Did they spend half the time or more, at the PS4 reveal talking about TV/Sports? Nope. They talked games. Microsoft talked TV and other non gaming related crap.

I don't remember them saying that, but if they did it doesn't matter. Revealing a new ->gaming<- console and focusing more about non gaming features, is a major fail, especially when you got 5-8 million hardcore gamers watching it. You can't blame those people for expressing their disappointment.

The bolded is the right strategy. It's all about messaging and execution. Microsoft is all over the place and is completely mishandling the Xbox brand. I mean look at Windows 8. Xbox Video? How does that even make sense? I'm not on an Xbox, I'm on my Windows laptop lmfao. Also Windows 8 games are branded as Xbox games which is ridiculous.

They messed up bad when they got rid of the Zune brand and made everything Xbox. Their leadership has gone to shit. They forgot how to market their products. They have a vision, but don't know how to sell it.

What's to defend? So because Sony chooses to put its marketing and its energies into focusing on games first they can't allow Playstation devices to do more? They have to shoehorn the PS4 into only games? People gave MS the business over its XBone because they LED with TV and then stacked draconian DRM onto its games on top of that. MS announced the XBOX One with friggen video of the Price-is-Right. Oh yeah it also plays some cool games.

It's not about defending Sony it's about Sony deciding to focus on games first. Something, people like you and I who come to sites like this, care about which is games. Then MS admittedly did try to fix by bringing the game at E3 but then took a crap all over that as well.

That's the problem. No one changed their mind. Well, except maybe MS. Sony consoles have been doing TV Apps etc. for some time now. The backlash towards MS had nothing to do with that and mostly came from XBOX fans expecting MS to come out of the gate with games you know for gamers. They screwed that up and it all went downhill from there.

We all love the extra stuff gaming consoles can do BUT gamers being the early adopters of these consoles want to see and hear about games first. MS failed at that. Sure that gave Sony fanguys ammo to talk crap on the interwebs but that was mostly self inflicted by MS.
