How the hell should I know? I'm not a mechanical engineer. Obviously they have engineers who have done ergonomic studies and came up with the placement and shape of the controller. I just know that the 360 stick placement is what is most comfortable. This is coming from someone who never owned a Xbox console until the 360 and only played Halo 2 on Xbox at a friend's house. I just feel that PS1,2,3 controllers were good for their time but the DS3 is horribly outdated. They have made some good changes to the DS4 it seems and it definitely looks like it will be a worthy contender to the X1 controller but the X1 controller has also made improvements. I just believe that stick placement seals the deal for the X1 controller being the better controller. I will eventually own both consoles and enjoy both controllers. Why can't you?

No I wasn't being contradictory. The DS3 is the basically the same controller as the DS2 which was good for its time. DS3 is/was outdated and the DS4 still keeps some of the same design principles as the DS3, stick placement being one of them. It should be a good controller but just not as good as the X1 controller.

Looks like the DualShock 4 controller will be the best of its time and the best controller in the 8th generation. The more professional gaming sources who have had access to all the 8th gen controllers seem to be leaning towards the DualShock 4

Maybe because these so called industry pros know to expect a top notch controller with X1 because of the 360, but the DS3 had a lot of improvements to made made on the other hand with the DS4.

Like I said I believe the stick placement is better on the X1 controller than the DS4. I know many people will agree with me. Sony doesn't do everything better. The sooner you realize this the better your life will be. Of course I'm probably talking to someone who believes that Killzone is the best FPS ever made.

Yeah I'm admitting the DS4 might not be getting completely obliterated like the DS3 was by the Xbox 360 controller. I still prefer the X1 stick placement. Shooters will never be comfortable on a DS to me and to every single one of friends.

Is there an alternate design with the sticks offset like a modern controller design should be? I have only seen images with terrible side by side placement.

You simply "believe" the stick placement on the X1 is better, whereas I KNOW the stick placement on the DS4 is far superior to that of the X1 controller.

Oh and in regards to your bolded statement, the same could be said for you, replace Sony with MS.
