I actually expected this. First they have to invent the technology to actually fulfill the ridiculous promises they have made.

Not a problem though. Before big Volta I'll probably not go 4k anyway.

ASUS Now Also Delays its 4k Swift PG27UQ Ultra HD G-Sync Monitor to 2018
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/asus-now-delays-its-4k-swift-pg27uq-ultra-hd-g-sync-monitor.html
Last week we reported that ACER has pushed back its 4K HDR GSYNC Predator screen towards 2018. Something is going on alright, as now ASUS as well is pushing back the release of the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ.

Both monitors have nearly the same specs, and use the same panel. So the panel itself seems to be the reason. The panel used would be an AU Optronics M270QAN02.2 AHVA IPS panel. These puppies offer a 3840×2160 resolution at an 144 Hz refresh rate and a LED backlighting system with 384 zones. Some specs of these monitors with an IPS panel.

Sorry viv. I know you were interested in the ASUS monitor.

If only that was 1440P and 31-32", that would be perfect. There needs to be more monitors with good local dimming.

I don't recall hearing about a 1440p monitor with real HDR, much less with FALD.

Maybe one day...

I've been eyeing up the Samsung LC32HG70QQUXEN (Amazon). 32", 1440P, HDR, fast refresh.

Its only Freesync though and HDR is not great, but I'd be lying say that I wasn't awfully tempted.

Also, FALD?

FALD is "Full-array local dimming". It's the term used for those monitors/TVs with different light zones that can be turned on and off to improve the picture quality. It's the fancy word they've come up with to sell the tech.

Also, that monitor only offers 350 cd/m², so the HDR is not the real deal. A shame.

Dell uses the same trick with the new U2518, mostly to increase its price over the monitor it replaces, the U2515.

Friday the 13th weapons being nerfed because camp counselors won't stop killing each other
http://www.pcgamer.com/friday-the-13th-weapons-being-nerfed-because-camp-counselors-wont-stop-killing-each-other/
"The biggest thing we’ve heard from our community with the game are issues pertaining to rampant team-killing that has unfortunately been abused by players on all platforms," publisher Gun Media said in a recent Reddit post. "While the mechanic’s intent is designed to promote life-or-death experiences into each and every game you play, the reality has turned into more of a Battle Royale scenario to a point our team feels a change needs to be made."

Skyscrapers take a beating in the first Megaton Rainfall trailer in 2 years
http://www.pcgamer.com/skyscrapers-are-sliced-to-bits-in-the-first-megaton-rainfall-trailer-in-2-years/
The first Megaton Rainfall trailer was released two years ago, and though it wasn't the prettiest looking game even at the time, the promise of flying around like Superman blowing up entire skyscrapers (while meaning to blow up aliens) was pretty tantalizing. The developer went fairly quiet after that trailer, posting just a couple blog updates, but today brings good news: Megaton Rainfall is alive and well, and the second trailer (above) looks leagues better than the first.

InXile boss Brian Fargo hints at a Starflight reboot
http://www.pcgamer.com/inxile-boss-brian-fargo-hints-at-a-starflight-reboot/
Starflight was originally released by Electronic Arts in 1986, and without overstating things in the slightest, it was brilliant. It was one of the first sandbox games, turning players loose in a huge (relatively, anyway) galaxy filled with planets to explore, resources to mine, and alien races to deal with, all of it lying on top of a story that required some real effort to uncover. I loved it—it's one of those game that I occasionally think about and wonder why it's never been picked up for a remake.

Looks like it's basically doing as expected. Killing in tests that can use all those threads while doing okay in tests that don't while delivering fairly insane value.

It will be interesting to see how much market share it takes away from intel HEDT line.
