The second part, and also the last one for the week:

DOOM PROGRESSION AND CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS REVEALED IN NEW VIDEO

http://www.pcgamer.com/doom-progression-and-customization-options-revealed-in-new-video/

With the Doom multiplayer open beta less than a day away, Bethesda has dropped a big load of information about how the game's player progression and customization systems will work. It looks to be very extensive, and designed to ensure that even not-great players will progress through the ranks: Half of the experience you earn in-game will be awarded just for “showing up and making an effort.”

RAINBOW 6 SIEGE IS FREE THIS WEEKEND

http://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-6-siege-is-free-this-weekend/

It may not be the best timing, given that it clashes with the soon-to-be-live Doom multplayer open beta, but Ubisoft is making its team-based FPS Rainbow Six Siege free to play for the weekend.

>>No, it certainly is not the best time to do it.

SHADWEN SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS REVEALED, LAUNCHING IN MAY

http://www.pcgamer.com/shadwen-system-requirements-revealed-launching-in-may/

Frozenbyte has announced that its new project, the stealth/assassination/babysitting game Shadwen, will be out in May. The studio also put out a “release announcement trailer” that shows off some lovely, and occasionally brutal, gameplay that faintly echoes its previous series, Trine.

>>It runs in mostly everything out there.

1979 REVOLUTION: BLACK FRIDAY IS A HISTORICAL ADVENTURE SET IN REVOLUTIONARY IRAN

http://www.pcgamer.com/1979-revolution-black-friday-is-a-historical-adventure-set-in-revolutionary-iran/

I first ran into 1979 Revolution: Black Friday in 2011, when former Rockstar developer Navid Khonsari announced his desire to make a game based on the Islamic Revolution in Iran that overthrew the Shah and installed a theocratic republic. A Kickstarter campaign a couple of years later fell short of its goal, but work continued, and earlier this month the game finally made its debut on Steam.

EPIC STELLARIS TRAILER SERVES UP A "TOUR OF THE GALAXY"

http://www.pcgamer.com/epic-stellaris-trailer-serves-up-a-tour-of-the-galaxy/

Paradox Interactive has released a sweeping new trailer for its sci-fi grand strategy game Stellaris that demonstrates, in less than three minutes, how much work goes into founding and maintaining a star-spanning empire.

GALAK-Z'S FREE EXPANSION 'THE VOID' ENTERS BETA TODAY

http://www.pcgamer.com/galak-zs-free-expansion-the-void-enters-beta-today/

Galak-Z was one of the hidden gems of 2015 – a viciously difficult twin-stick shooter set in procedurally generated, anime-influenced space mazes. I haven't managed to finish it yet, but for those who have, the forthcoming The Void expansion will be very welcome. It adds an endless mode tied to leaderboards, providing a decent reason to boot the game up every day.

HEARTS OF IRON 4 TO BE PARADOX'S "MOST MODDABLE GAME YET"

http://www.pcgamer.com/hearts-of-iron-4-to-be-paradoxs-most-moddable-game-yet/

Hot on the heels of Stellaris, Paradox's Second World War grand strategy Hearts of Iron 4 is arriving June 6. In the latest developer diary, PDS has revealed that Hearts of Iron 4 will be its "most moddable game yet", and walks us through a suite of mod-friendly features and tools.

>>That's a bold intention from the publishers behind Europa Universalis or Cities Skylines.

And before finishing this post, there are some sales going on:

Ubisoft is having a Spring Sale at UPlay that will last until April 27th: http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubiemea/es_ES/home/ThemeID.8605700/ccRef.en_GB

Steam has two sales this weekend:

The only way I could see the GP104 beating an overclocked GM200 chip would be if it was clocked at 1.6GHz assuming the generous 20% higher throughput per clock holds and the rumor of it having 2048 cuda cores ...

^Coming from you, that's very optimistic!

I'd say that Pascal will be able to achieve 1.6GHz easily, at least when overclocked.

We're talking base clock at the very least, not boost clock!

The GTX Titan X at 1.2GHz is about 60% faster than a reference GTX 980, the GP104 at 300mm^2 succeeding an OC'd GM200 will be almost a miracle ...

I let it go in your previous post, but you're doing it again: don't try to cheat comparing reference vs overclocked cards!

Sure, a Titan X overclocked to 1.2GHz can be 60% faster than a reference 980. But a reference 980 is clocked at 1.1GHz and can be "easily" overclocked to almost 1.4GHz, with the boost exceeding 1.5GHz, reducing that advantage to what, 35-40%?

That's the performance jump Nvidia delivered going from the 780 to the 980, with two different architectures but the same process node and going from a 560mm2 chip to a smaller 400mm2 one.

With a new architecture and a new process node, Nvidia can deliver that performance jump with a 300mm2 chip.

Although Nvidia would like to market that improvement very much!

I don't know if it's totally fair to use an extremely mutilated GK110 part since the 780 Ti/Titan Black was much much closer to the GTX 980 ...

If you want, we can compare the jump from the GTX 580, a refined 520mm2 Fermi chip using 40nm to the GTX 680, a less than 300 mm2 cut down Kepler card build using the 28nm process. The jump in performance was also between 35-40%.

That would be the ideal comparison as there's an architectural change as well as a process node improvement.

DARK SOULS 3 UPDATE COMING NEXT WEEK, FIRST DLC RUMORED FOR AUTUMN

http://www.pcgamer.com/dark-souls-3-update-coming-next-week-first-dlc-rumored-for-autumn/

A fresh Dark Souls 3 update will go live on April 18, Bandai Namco announced today, at precisely 2am PT if things go according to plan. The 1.03.1 update will include performance adjustments for Greatsword, Soul's Greatsword, and Farron Flashsword, battle performance adjustments for Dancer's Enchanted Sword and Winged Knight Twinaxes, a fix for a bug that made various items impossible to use at Road of Sacrifices, Farron Keep, and Cathedral of the Deep after the game is cleared, and the usual “general balance adjustments and bug fixes.”

>>Obviously, that "next week" is this week.

BECOME A GHOST IN GOETIA, A DARK VICTORIAN ADVENTURE THROUGH MADNESS AND MYSTERY

http://www.pcgamer.com/become-a-ghost-in-goetia-a-dark-victorian-adventure-through-madness-and-mystery/

Goetia is a 2D “Victorian mystery” adventure in which you play as the ghost of a young girl named Abigail, who's haunting the abandoned English village of Oakmarsh. It's been awhile since we last heard about it, but I strongly agree with Mr. Sykes' assessment of the premise as intriguing, and so I'm quite happy to see that it's now out on Steam. I like the launch trailer, too.

ARK: SURVIVAL EVOLVED LAWSUIT SETTLED

http://www.pcgamer.com/ark-survival-evolved-lawsuit-settled/

Ark: Survival Evolved developer Studio Wildcard was sued late last year by Trendy Entertainment, the studio behind Dungeon Defenders, over allegations that former Trendy President Jeremy Stieglitz had tried to recruit other developers at the studio to the Ark project. That, Trendy said, was in direct violation of his contract, which forbid him from poaching his former fellow employees after he left the studio.

DEAN HALL'S ROCKETWERKZ RELEASES VIVE-EXCLUSIVE OUT OF AMMO

http://www.pcgamer.com/dean-halls-rocketwerkz-releases-vive-exclusive-out-of-ammo/

I had no idea that Dean Hall's RocketWerkz studio was making a virtual reality game, and that's weird because I wrote a damn news article about it last year. It turns out this mysterious SteamVR game was the blocky strategy-based FPS Out of Ammo, out now in Early Access, and exclusive to the HTC Vive.

CORPSE PARTY REMAKE SHUFFLING TO PC THIS MONTH

http://www.pcgamer.com/corpse-party-remake-shuffling-to-pc-this-month/

Corpse Party is one of the stars of the venerable RPG Maker: a grisly horror game set in a ghost-infested Japanese high school, with a branching story and lots of ways to end up dead. I've been trying to untangle it's mess of remakes for about twenty minutes now, but one thing seems certain: the only version currently available for PC, in English, is this unofficial remake of the original 1998 version.

SURVIVAL HORROR BACK IN 1995 LOOKS LIKE A LOST PLAYSTATION GAME

http://www.pcgamer.com/survival-horror-back-in-1995-looks-like-a-lost-playstation-game/

he astonishing-looking Back in 1995—don't forget to tell me how wrong I am!—is releasing this month, on April 28, to be exact. It's an old-fashioned survival horror made to look like an early PlayStation game, with all the warping textures and absent anti-aliasing you'd expect. If you were to compare it to the similar Silent Hill, you'd see a game that looks less technologically advanced—but remember, Silent Hill came out in 1999, four years after the period that creator Takaaki Ichijo is trying to recapture. Anyway, here's what Back in 1995 looks like. Haters of low-low-poly, and massively blown up textures, should vacate the building now.

ROCKET LEAGUE V1.16 UPDATE WILL FINE-TUNE VEHICLE HITBOXES

http://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-league-v116-update-will-fine-tune-vehicle-hitboxes/

A new patch for Rocket League will carry out a number of pedantic – but consequential – fixes to the game's ball and vehicle hitboxes. Due to roll out this week, v1.16 won't introduce any noticeable changes to more casual players, but it will make the game more fair for the competitive scene.

Southern Monsters will take you down to south Arkansas, where loneliness and PTSD are your companions. While the Sony and Nintendo guys are busy talking about the latest rumors of PS4K and NX, we have new info/rumors about Nvidia's nex gen cards:

Nvidia Pascal GeForce GTX 1080 Allegedly Pictured – June Launch Imminent

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-allegedly-pictured/#ixzz46Gym0z6N

A photograph showing Nvidia’s upcoming flagship Pascal GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card has just made its way to the web. It depicts a silver graphics card shroud, clearly bearing the Nvidia logo on the right and an engraved “GTX 1080” on the left. The allegedly new NVTTM cooler maintains the same familiar aesthetic look of Nvidia’s current GeForce lineup. Featuring a silver metallic body with black accents and a small acrylic window sitting above the vapor chamber and heatsink fin array.

>>I still think it's fake, because there is no need to send a shroud that way. The wccftech article kind of things the same way, and points out what happened the last time we had a leak like that.

NVIDIA Pascal GP106 in autumn

http://videocardz.com/59163/nvidia-pascal-gp106-in-autumn

According to SweClockers, NVIDIA currently has no plans to unveil GP106-based products sooner than in few months.

The first wave of GeForce 1000 series will only include performance products like GTX 1080 and GTX 1070. The mid-range solution will be released later. This is actually nothing new, because NVIDIA has been doing this for quite some time. Rather than release full portfolio (like AMD likes to do), they split each launch to when they feel it’s suitable.

>>This one seems more likely.
