Remember that last week or so we heard news of AMD announcing XConnect, the external enclosures for GPUs in partnership with Razer? Well, today the price of that enclosure has been revealed.

Razer Core External GPU Enclosure Pricing and Availability Announced

http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/Razer-Core-External-GPU-Enclosure-Pricing-and-Availability-Announced

Razer has announced pricing and availability for their Core external GPU enclosure, which allows GPUs of up to 375W to run over Thunderbolt 3 with compatible devices.

The Razer Core will cost $499 alone, or $399 when purchased with a Razer laptop. It will be available in April.

Ouch! That's quite a bit more expensive than I thought.

^Your post seems bitter-sweet, I don't know if I have to congratulate you for beating the game or cheer you up because you haven't done it the way you wanted :-/

Yep, Intel's NUC is quite amazing... but it's also $699.

So I finished Final Fantasy VII on Steam today.

Although..I didnt complete it like the way I wanted to :(

Emerald and Ruby weapon are still there - they destroyed me. I have all the OP materia but they are low level so which may be the reason why I'm not doing much.

Also Cloud Lv 75, Tifa Lv 73 and Barret Lv 75.

When I get back from my vacation I guess I'll grind some more with the Elixir/W-Item trick against Magic pots.

Anyways I finished the main storyline so I guess I'll go make a review for it.

Also FF7 has become my first Final Fantasy game I beaten on Steam and it has become my #5 most played game on Steam too :D

I was about to be all congrats and then it wasn't the way you wanted so now I'm all:

It has super speed connector, Thunder Bolt 3( 40Gbps ). $700 for just barebone, $1000 for full build 16GB Ram, 256GB SSD & Windows 10.

More info about Polaris straight from GDC

AMD Polaris 10 engineering sample ‘pictured’

AMD Polaris 10

We were told that Polaris 10 is capable of running AAA title at 60+ FPS while being installed in small form factor chassis. According to VRWorld, the PCB of Polaris 10 engineering sample was not much bigger than R9 Nano’s. It means that AMD is pushing forward the new standard of small cards with high-end specifications. However it remains unclear if Polaris 10 will replace Hawaii or Fiji in terms of performance, so it’s really hard to predict if future graphics cards from AMD will all use smaller boards.

The sample used during Capsaicin had five display outputs, including: three DisplayPorts 1.3, HDMI 2.0 and DVI-D Dual Link. DisplayPort 1.3 supports 5K content at 60 Hz or 4K/60Hz with HDR. The DVI port was not offered with Fiji-based products, so it’s interesting to see it installed again.

AMD Polaris 11

The lower-end chip called Polaris 11, which will most likely end up as a popular mobile part can be used without active cooling solution. According to Ryan Shrout from PCPerspective Polaris 11 can output 4K VR content when no fans are spinning. This is actually great news for notebook manufacturers, since they can save some space by not installing bulky and noisy cooling solutions.

O.o

If Polaris 11 is the small chip and can do 4K VR while being passively cooled, what the f*ck does AMD have in its hands? And what can Polaris 10 do?

Prediction.

If external GPU enclosure is too big for you, maybe Nvidia/AMD will make mobile GPU for smaller enclosure. Like external USB sound card.

Probably.

But I haven't seen mobile GPUs sold to consumers. Maybe Asus and/or other manufacturers will launch their own external enclosures with a selection on GPU chips, but without the option to upgrade them.

Perhaps they will make cheaper a bit.
