So basically I should build a new rig by next year once Intel and co release their new CPU's and Nvidia/AMD with their new flagships =P.

I should just go for the new monitor this year and spend most of this year saving for a new spec for next year.

More time to save the money

Oh, if Lenovo is available in the UK, you may want to take a look at one of the monitors they'll launch this year: Lenovo Y27g Curved 27" with 144Hz VA Panel and G-sync

It's 1080p and will cost $549 USD, but who knows how much it will be in the UK.

It's curved but interesting and the PP doesn't sound so bad either, though I hope I don't have to pay silly VAT like I did with my GPU (rpobably will).

I also need to do more research on these G-syncs for colour banding because jeebus do I hate having that issues on my current BenQ.

What I plan to do with this current build is have it turned into a rendering one for future game footage, though I still have to test my 16gb ram kit and I've been lazy for the past couple of months since the process to scan each stick irks me.

SK Hynix To Commence Mass Production of 4 GB HBM2 DRAM In Q3 2016

http://wccftech.com/sk-hynix-hbm2-mass-production-q3-2016/#ixzz42FHbKZbJ

SK Hynix is planning to commence production of their HBM2 DRAMs in Q3 2016, as reported by Golem.de. The source reveals that SK Hynix will be initiating full fledged mass production of 4 GB HBM2 DRAMs in Q3 ’16 and followed quickly with 8 GB HBM2 DRAMs in Q4 ’16. SK Hynix will be aiming to supply NVIDIA’s Pascal and AMD Polaris GPUs, both of which are expected to arrive in mid of 2016.

Q3 is the July to September period, but I really doubt we'll see AMD and Nvidia flagship cards until at least October. And the new Titan will arrive even later (because I assume it will use the 8GB version)

Can't wait to build new rig.

Don't be so fast! That Titan may use those 8GB modules is only a guess.

We know that the professional cards will go upto 32GB of HBM2, and that means the use of 4x8GB modules. But I doubt Nvidia will ship the Titan with that much memory, 16GB is more likely, and for that they can go with 2x8GB or 4x4GB.

The news! And today it will be just one post. But first:

WARNING!!! GEFORCE DRIVERS 364.47 ARE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ERRORS

http://www.pcgamer.com/geforce-drivers-36447-cause-catastrophic-errors/

Following a storm of error reports, Nvidia has pulled GeForce drivers v364.47 from general release. Malfunctions range from your basic stuttering to black screens, blue screens and crashes that leave you stuck in infinite boot loops. Rather ominously, the odd member on the GeForce forums has been requesting warranty advice. I'll wager that the Nvidia office resembles one of the nastier planes of hell around now.

"Initial investigation suggests the issue was related to doing an "Express" installation," Nvidia said in a statement. "If you happen to have a pending installation of 364.47, we recommend that you do not install it and either use the new 364.51 beta version or wait for the WHQL certified version."

If you have them installed already, I'd recommend rolling back whether or not you've had problems. Nothing ruins a day like having to perform a fresh OS install with no Windows 10 back-up.

Edit: You can find the new (and hopefully much safer) beta drivers here.

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-sinking-city-frogwares-open-world-investigation-lovecraftian-game-officially-unveiled/

Back in December 2015, we informed you about a Lovecraftian game that was being developed by Frogwares. This game won’t be called “Call of Cthulhu” as we originally believed. Instead, the game will be called The Sinking City, will be an open world investigation game, and below you can find some new artworks as well as its first screenshot.

RUMOR: NEXT HEARTHSTONE EXPANSION TO BE CALLED WHISPERS OF THE OLD GODS

http://www.pcgamer.com/rumor-next-hearthstone-set-to-be-called-whispers-of-the-old-gods/

Last week, Blizzard teased big Hearthstone news that would be announced this weekend at the Americas Winter Championship. We speculated—because that's what you do when you're dealing with an announcement of an announcement—that it would include details of the next card set, which will go live alongside the new Standard format this spring. But we may have a head-start on what's coming, thanks to some sleuthing by Youtuber Disguised Toast (love that name) and the denizens of the Hearthstone subreddit. According to their collective deduction, it looks very likely that the expansion is going to be called Whispers of the Old Gods.

THE DOOM REVERSE SLEEVE POLL HAS A WINNER

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-doom-reverse-sleeve-poll-has-a-winner/

Bethesda held a poll last week to determine which of two new (less banal) images would serve as the reverse sleeve art for Doom, the upcoming reboot of the classic id Software FPS. And the internet, as they say, has spoken.

>>There were only two options, the good one and a bad one.

VALVE ANNOUNCES THE LAB, A COMPILATION OF FREE VR "EXPERIMENTS"

http://www.pcgamer.com/valve-announces-the-lab-a-compilation-of-free-vr-experiments/

Valve has announced in a very brief email that it will unveil a series of free virtual reality “experiments,” collectively known as The Lab, at the Game Developers Conference next week.

>>GDC next week. We'll hear a lot about DX12, Vulkan, VR, probably Fury Gemini (Fury X2) and who knows if we'll get some tidbits of Pascal and Polaris.

6DOF SHOOTER OVERLOAD GETS A FREE "PLAYABLE TEASER"

http://www.pcgamer.com/6dof-shooter-overload-gets-a-free-playable-teaser/

The Kickstarter for Overload, the 6DOF shooter being developed by a team headed by the creators of Descent, appears to have floundered. It's raised nearly $170,000 to date, which is a nice chunk of change but not nearly close enough to the $300,000 goal with only three days remaining on the clock. To help get things going, the studio has released a publicly-available “playable teaser,” or as we used to call them back in the day, a demo.

FABLE LEGENDS PLAYERS WILL BE OFFERED REFUNDS

http://www.pcgamer.com/fable-legends-players-will-be-offered-refunds/

Microsoft dropped some unexpected and unhappy news earlier today when it announced the looming closure of Lionhead Studios. The end of Lionhead also means the end of Fable Legends, the free-to-play action-RPG it had been working on since mid-2012. Fortunately, players who spent money on it will be able to get it back.

>>Well, that's the least thing they could do.

THE DIVISION GETS OFF TO A ROCKY START

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-division-gets-off-to-a-rocky-start/

The Division's servers went live at Australian midnight, with the client unlocking as March 8 rolled round in various time zones. When America got involved, they collapsed, and in other news, the tide is coming in.

>>No surprises here.

VERMINTIDE SWELLS WITH FREE LAST STAND DLC

http://www.pcgamer.com/vermintide-swells-with-free-last-stand-dlc/

While it might- nay, would have been better to rethink their choice of pop music before letting this trailer fly free, I'm nevertheless pleased to see that Vermintide is being kept afloat with new free and paid DLC, out today.

FRAUD CHARGES BROUGHT IN 38 STUDIOS LOAN SAGA

http://www.pcgamer.com/fraud-charges-brought-in-38-studios-loan-saga/

You have to feel sorry for anyone remotely connected to 38 Studios' financing deal with the state of Rhode Island. To date, it's claimed 38 Studios itself, its sister studio Big Huge Games, the solvency of its founder, Curt Schilling, and about $36 million of public money. And yet the misery continues, because the US Securities and Exchange Commission has now charged the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation and Wells Fargo, one of the banks that worked on the bond offering, with defrauding investors.

TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER DELAYED INTO MAY, SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS RELEASED

http://www.pcgamer.com/total-war-warhammer-delayed-into-may-system-requirements-released/

Weekender-goers, feel smug at your early hands-on! Everyone else, adopt a glum look at the news that Total War: Warhammer has been delayed from April 28 to May 24. Creative director Mike Simpson issued as statement as to the reason behind the delay, and frustrating though it is, I can't think up a better one.

>>The system requirements also tell you what kind of frame-rate you should expect to see.

Meanwhile at Nvidia:

Haven't updated my GPU since the Battlefront driver was out and even then that caused me a few issues. I don't think I'll be updating mine any time in the future for a whole,e specially with having to install the crappy Nvidia GFE software which I really don't want on my system.

Also started playing Stardew Valley the other night and already installed two mods, one to show prices for anything I can sell from my inventory and another mod that makes fishing a bit easier for me as the mini game originally stressed me out when trying to catch fish.

There are more mods that PCGamer has compiled:
