So according to GAF - no more dailies/flash sales for Steam :(!!!!!!

Wait, what?!

Do you mean no flash sales until the big X-Mas sale or no more flash sales at all?

Please excuse my bad English.

Wow I hope that's not the case as I really love my flash sales and daily ones, so much so that I am glued to Totalbiscuit's channel whenever he lists them and the best times to grab a game or two.

From the steamworks developer group....

"In past sale events, we’ve asked for two discounts—a duration discount that runs for the length of the sale, and a feature discount that runs in the event that a game is featured on the front page. This year, to optimize the sale for customers and to allow us to feature and recommend your products in more ways to more customers, we’re asking for just one discount, to run the length of the sale.

We’ll still be highlighting top games on the front page for 24-48 hour spans, but those products will stay at their most competitive discount, before and after being featured. It’s not a major change, but it does make the sale a lot more valuable for customers, and it allows us to build sale tools that highlight and recommend products all sale long, instead of just during front page features."

I hope its not true D:

The part were they say "it does make the sale a lot more valuable for customers" is a real gem. A gem of pure hypocrisy.

Well, looking at the bright side, my wallet will greatly benefit from this. My purchases will involve a lot of thinking, and zero impulse buying.

This, I've normally been careful with what I spend my money on but this time I'll be even more vigilant with how I spend it.

I swear Valve are going down that path though, between the Steam OS not picking up "steam" fast enough, focusing on a market they shouldn't be bothering with and messing around with charging for mods and other crap and then of course this, the picture isn't being painted pretty and it's getting irksome now.

That's the problem when you become the dominant store in the digital PC sales, you start doing stupid things.

Then of course there's Nvidia and others like big publishers, hell Capcom recently pulled a middle finger today because they think they are safe in the bag financially this gen without Xbox, imo that's a bad and very bold decision to make.

???? What did Capcom do today o.O?

Basically saying "screw Xbox" and may as well throw in "screw Wii U too" while they're at it.

Even though they have the MH on 3DS the res tof their franchises still evade Wii U and the same for Xbox. If they don't try then they can't make excuses when they haven't bothered much with those markets.

I'm sure Capcom will try to undo Ono's comments soon. They can't be so fool to not see the consequences those words will have in the future.

And Nvidia's mistake can the the lock of drivers, but they're in a better situation and (as much as I hate it) they could get away with it.

Im pretty sure that it only has a limit on someone who changes their hardware daily. Like if you switch between 5 GPUS in a day it puts a block on it for 24 hours. Still kinda pointless imo to even add it..

Yeah during some bench tests that seems to be the case but honestly hardware based DRM is probably the worst and really shouldn't be enfornced.

Yeah, the 380X barely surpasses the old 280X :-/.

Btw, the other day I found this pic comparing the different 14/16 nm processes, although I'm not 100% sure if its true or not

TSMC is kind of cheating with it's 16 nm process (even after including the FinFet part of it), don't you think? And it also shows why Intel's chips are so power efficient.

Oh my, that almost makes me feel embarrassed for them.
