Sega's April Fool's joke has become its best-rated Sonic game on PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/segas-april-fools-joke-has-become-its-best-rated-sonic-game-on-pc/
In a shot heard around the world, Sonic the Hedgehog was murdered last week. The blue blur was found twisted and bloody in the dining car of the Mirage Express, his shocked expression mercifully masked by a jauntily placed sailor's hat. It all took place in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, a Sega-made visual novel that was—despite its tragic and unconscionable subject matter—something of an April Fool's gag.
Well the joke goes on, because The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is now the highest-rated Sonic game on Steam. In fact, it's the 62nd highest-rated game on the entire platform (it was briefly 61st), and has netted itself over a million downloads since its release last week.
>> lol. Sega should stop doing platformers and focus on Visual Novels XD.

Ha! joke's on them.

NVIDIA Compares GeForce RTX 4070 With RTX 3060 & GTX 1060 In Counter Strike 2 Reflex Latency Benchmark

Pretty shit comparison from Nvidia. They should be comparing 4070 against 3070/2070/1070

At this rate he 5070 will be compared to the 1660.

Geez, it's like Nvidia has forgotten that they're using that part to power the 4070, not the 4060. Whoopsie!

On another note, PCGamer has an article with a leaked benchmark... for Zen5! And the source is legit: Jim Keller

AMD's Zen 5 CPU is scary fast according to performance numbers from the actual father of Zen
https://www.pcgamer.com/amds-zen-5-cpu-is-scary-fast-according-to-performance-numbers-from-the-actual-father-of-zen/
AMD's upcoming Zen 5 CPU is going to be a beast. So says the CEO of AI chip startup Tenstorrent, who showed off comparative performance numbers for most of the major CPU architectures yesterday including AMD's yet-to-be-released Zen 5 chip.

But here's the thing. The CEO of Tenstorrent is none other than Jim Keller, formerly of AMD and the man that headed up the development of Zen itself. Short of official numbers from AMD, in other words, this is about a good as third-party data gets. It's not your usual dodgy 'leak'.

Keller was doing the keynote for a Tenstorrent talk for university students in India covering the company's latest RISC-V chips for AI models and the future of computing. Remarkably, Keller pulled up a slide with detailed performance numbers for a range of data center CPUs, including all existing generations of Zen, Intel's latest Sapphire Rapids chip, Amazon's in-house CPUs, Nvidia upcoming Grace chip and... Zen 5.

It doesn't mean much for most of us, but it could lead to some speculation about the improvements Zen5 may bring.

Since that's an exactly round 1.3 multiplier from Zen 4's Genoa, the slide is likely just missing the 'projected' note as it does for the Nvidia CPU (which is projected to match Intel's one in turn) since this is just about the 30% AMD has claimed for every past Zen generation before release.

It could be, yes. The lack of a "projected" disclaimer on Zen5 is odd, because there's ample room for it and there's no reason to not put it if he uses it with Nvidia's Grace.

But well, he left AMD a few years ago already and, while he still knows details that we don't, it's hard to believe that he knows all the details, like the frequencies and TDPs that are also present in the slide.

But well, I thought it could be interesting.

Guys, some advice..get 6800XT for £520 now, or wait 2 weeks for 4070?? Or wait until all midrange cards are out.

Last edited by hinch - on 06 April 2023

That's a very difficult decision, even more so because we don't know how much the 4070 will be in pounds. Will it be £500 or more? And since that's the MSRP, how much will it actually be?

At the same time, it looks like it will perform like a 3080 and, therefore, like a 6800XT, but with much better RT results.

I don't know, man. If that £520 deal for a 6800XT will last until the release of the 4070, I'd tell you to wait so you have all the details and can make a better decision, but if that deal won't last long... well, it's up to you.

Sorry I can't help, but I don't think there's a right or wrong option here.
