Using the new, and single power connector is probably cheaper than putting 3x 8-pin ones.

Also, if they all use the reference PCB, it's only normal that they use the new one.

Nvidia got the specs up on there website now

Overall at least on paper look like a nice improvement over last gen. There only 2 things that a bit of disappointment to me. The bigger one to me is they stuck with displayport 1.4a instead of going to 2.0. The other is pretty minor which is still PCI-E 4 instead of 5 but I not seeing that making a difference at the high end where it pin for all 16 lanes.

Good catch. Yea Display port 1.4a is lame af cause a lot of new monitors will be coming out with Display port 2.0. Granted they will be backwards compatible but still... If Nvidia is asking for so much money, that should be included.

I like them going with PCI-E Gen 4 over Gen 5 however. It makes it so the older generation motherboards have better compatibility without the bandwidth issues they would have if it was PCI-E Gen 5 instead. While Gen 5 vs Gen 4 won't matter in the high end, at the low end where they start cutting lanes, it does start to matter. So I think PCI-E Gen 4 is a positive overall.

Ouch! I click the link and it opens the Spanish site... "starting at 1,959.00 €"

Damn!

DLSS 3 is quite interesting with its frame prediction. I suspect that this will work better beyond 60fps when the time interval between predicted and real new frames is very low. I can see this technique being jittery and ghostly at lower frame rates if the algorithmic prediction is too far off from real frames. I guess that frame prediction will be best for 4K@60->4K@120 or 1080p@120->1080p@240 up-framerating.

Gotta love those Nvidia slides. I expected something a little more outrageous, though, Huang dropped the ball today.

The best value card appears to be, curiously, the 4090, from the looks of it. The 4080 and especially the 4070--sorry, "4080 12 GB"--was a huge oof.

No one should be touching the 4080 with a 10 ft pole imo. Either buy 4090 or buy cheap Ampere or wait for RDNA 3 and wait it out till something good comes along.

Pretty much. Nvidia became the scalper this time around. The Ampere launch was mindblowing when they announced the prices but this time though... Oh Boy...

I think I can get why they made DLSS 3.0 Lovelace exclusive. I think it's a purely a hardware limitation considering they are now going to start inserting frames instead of just pixels. So the computational performance uplift of Tensor cores is certainly needed and Ampere has 320 vs 1400 on Lovelace. Doesn't mean it's a good thing though.

And yea, this makes me worried about RDNA 3 because we know Nvidia won't price it like this unless either they are going very cocky or they know RDNA 3 won't perform as good. I think RDNA 3's Raster performance will continue to be competitive but Ray Tracing and DLSS will be lightyears ahead with Lovelace. Sucks all around though because that pricing is hard to swallow for 99% of the people. And they may as well have invited Don Mattrick when they showed off that Ampere pricing lmao. They may as well have said, "oh you can't afford Lovelace? Buy Ampere instead!"

Personally I'm hoping for some form of backlash, because this isn't good shit for us in general, since we're clearly entering another global recession, but who am I kidding?, the ppl that can easily afford the 80/90 series are going to buy them and Nvidia are going to remain super ultra deluxe, penthouse suite levels of comfortable, that they won't want to budge from the current plans they've laid out.

I hate how I used to be in the Ti bracket, but then when you were talking about going for an 80 series, I was like "eh not a bad idea", but now the 70 series has been made the 80 line, and the 80 the 90, and I just feel super shafted, price/perf wise.

I'm not only gonna blame nvidia and scalpers for this, but the god damn Titan series for introducing this stupid gap Nvidia felt like it had to maintain, even if it meant morphing the 70's into 80's and the 80's into 90's and now the 90's into 90ti's, it's all so fucking artificially stupid.

Like just go back to us having 70/80's, I'm fine with that, but not 50/50ti, 60/60ti, 70/70ti, 80/80ti, 90/90ti, because that's just really fucking stupid and completely saturates the market and makes power gains per card almost pointless.

£949 for FE 4080 12GB (4070 in all but name). Over 1K for AiB. Yikes.

Yeah no next gen Nvidia for me. Lets see how AMD does with their pricing...

Wow, fuck me, Nvidia practically priced me well out of their range for yet another generation. Seriously, fuck those guys.

I really am going to have to go full AMD this gen, because Nvidia/Intel are just shitting the bed constantly. Making DLSS 3.0 exclusive is also another kick to the "tough shit" nuts.
