Sounds like I'll be aiming for a 4090 if I can get one. Is there mention of when preorders open up?

Same. I was targetting the 4090 to begin with and while $1600 starting isn't cheap... It's cheaper than what I was expecting lol. No word on when pre-orders go live yet.

Yea I think if you are gonna buy anything other than 4090, you should probably wait for RDNA 3 and see how it turns out lol.

No xx80 series golden goose this time around...

Should rename their slogan to "beyond affordable".

kek at their 4090 price point, I'm sure the 4080 and 70 models are also going to be close to the 1k range as well, so we're pretty much going back to being fucked again.

Also fuck'em for making DLSS 3.0 exclusive to the new line, we've fucking seen this before, that they can make some of their tech non exclusive, they just know that the scalper honeymoon is over and that we have to buy if we wanna play, this is just greed in it's near purest form from nvidia.

AMD really eneds to fucking hit a home run, because I'm getting tired of nvidia just getting away with this shit every gen.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Pretty much. Nvidia became the scalper this time around. The Ampere launch was mindblowing when they announced the prices but this time though... Oh Boy...

I think I can get why they made DLSS 3.0 Lovelace exclusive. I think it's a purely a hardware limitation considering they are now going to start inserting frames instead of just pixels. So the computational performance uplift of Tensor cores is certainly needed and Ampere has 320 vs 1400 on Lovelace. Doesn't mean it's a good thing though.

And yea, this makes me worried about RDNA 3 because we know Nvidia won't price it like this unless either they are going very cocky or they know RDNA 3 won't perform as good. I think RDNA 3's Raster performance will continue to be competitive but Ray Tracing and DLSS will be lightyears ahead with Lovelace. Sucks all around though because that pricing is hard to swallow for 99% of the people. And they may as well have invited Don Mattrick when they showed off that Ampere pricing lmao. They may as well have said, "oh you can't afford Lovelace? Buy Ampere instead!"

£949 for FE 4080 12GB (4070 in all but name). Over 1K for AiB. Yikes.

Yeah no next gen Nvidia for me. Lets see how AMD does with their pricing...

DF - RTX 4090 and DLSS 3 preview. Frame generation looks really darn good.

Strix 4090 baby

Well, you guys have already said it all: outside of the pricing of the 4090, which is relatively ok, the price of both 4080 cards is terrible. The 3070 was a $499 card while the 4080 12GB, which is the true successor of that GPU, is now $400 more. Insane.

And we have to remember that these are the prices for the Founders Edition cards. Third party models will be more expensive than that.

At least there are two things to be hopeful in the future:

1.- AMD doesn't follow Nvidia's insane pricing (at least for its non-flagship cards) and forces Nvidia to drop the prices.

2.- These aren't the "real" prices. They're there to scare us and eye the remaining stock of 3000 series as a valid option. That way they solve their stock inventory problems and, after it's normalized, they'll lower the prices to more reasonable levels.

But, if I'm honest, I don't have much faith in either of them.

Couple more things to note:

1) All AIBs cards seem to have the new power connector so no more native support for the classic 6/8 pin connectors. They will probably all have adaptors though.

2) None of the cards seems to have any custom PCBs this time around unlike last time where you had Strix, Suprim X, Kingpin and etc all having custom PCBs. This is probably what Evga meant by Nvidia seeking too much control. Cause now, other than the look and design of the GPU coolers, the cards look to all be the same reference PCB.
