So Elden Ring runs like crap in the open world. Goddamn reviewers dropped the ball again.
Problem is, since it looks like the engine itself is choking when it streams assets, I doubt this will be an easy fix, unless the blame lies with EAC.
Few hours in and no issues with so far. Was worried my 1070 wouldn't do the game justice but it works pretty well with some adjustments. Stuck to 1440P and getting stable framerates with mostly high and some medium settings. Hows everyone else's game/s going?
The game is absolutely brilliant though. Died a lot, but so much fun xD
I am playing it at 4k with everything maxed. For the most part, it holds 60 but there are certain times on the Open World where I do see the stuttering and hitching. After about 3 hours of playing, I did experience the memory leak but after restarting the game, it went away.
So far, it's quite good overall. I did have to play with the control scheme a lot to fit to my liking cause I don't agree with the default control scheme. What this game needs is Nvidia Reflex.

Nice. Kinda expected the 3080 to get solid 60 everywhere, though I guess there's room for improvement for optimization. Still worlds apart from consoles. I mean it doesn't have the most amazing graphics but the (wonderful) art makes up for it and looks really good imo. Should perform better tbh for all plaforms but oh well, FS lol. Hopefully the game will run smoother and add other performance fixes with new patches and Nvidia drivers soon.
I kinda got used to the control scheme but yeah its a weird config. And thats true, after playing GoW recently with Reflex you learn to appreciate the responsiveness of that. As for ER.. I got the the first boss and got stomped lol. Guess I need to play more and level up a bit and unlock some more abilities.
To note I also got slight stuttering issues when loading new assets in open world but it went away after 2-3 seconds load. And that only happened once.

"Exit the game. Go to your windows bar and search "graphics". Click on "Graphics Settings". Choose desktop app and click "browse". Search through your drive for the game files and set the options to "High performance". Start the game. LMK if this helps!
edit: I also disabled steam overlay for the game, and chose to run Steam itself on high performance, too."
edit2: For increased frame rate: just set the global "Shader Cache Size" setting in NVIDIA Control Panel to "Unlimited": https://i.imgur.com/wm4y2GU.jpeg -credit u/bobasaurus"

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.
Well I had my first heart attack moment.
There's was this giant ass monster that was chasing me and I managed to kill it after using all my heals but I had like 1hp left. Then I turn around and this troll of a knight took a swing at me that I managed to dodge. That hoe chasing me was more terrifying than the monster itself. I managed to get away into the bushes thankfully but jeez this game.

First Elden Ring Mod unlocks the framerate of the PC version
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/first-elden-ring-mod-unlocks-the-framerate-on-the-pc-version/
Bandai Namco has just released Elden Ring on PC and as we’ve already reported, the game is locked at 60fps. Thankfully, and in just a few hours, the first mod appeared for it that can completely unlock its framerate.
Created by uberhalit, this mod unlocks the framerate by setting a new custom limit. According to the modder, this mod works with legit, unmodified steam version as well as with unpacked, not-so-legit versions. Additionally, this mod does not modify any game files. Regardless of that, though, we suggest avoiding it while playing online.
The modder plans to also add a FOV and custom resolutions to this utility. Keep also in mind that this FramerateUnlocker is currently in a beta stage. As such, you may encounter some bugs or glitches.
