So I decided to wait on a new TV til next year when the full HDMI 2.1 spec will hopefully reach the midrange models. I do need a monitor regardless and was deliberating between the FI32U and M32U until I saw the latter in stock and on sale for $800 at Newegg. Appears to have a few more QC issues than the Aorus but for $150 less I'm willing to roll the dice and just made my purchase!

Congratulations. I hope it lives up to your expectations.

Gather around kids as it's time for a horror story because I haven't seen a fuck up like this in a long time.

Marvels Guardian of the Galaxy (Gifted to me)

Idk how this game got past QA but my god, it has a shat ton of issues and many are pretty wtf.

#1: Button prompts are messed up

I am using an Xbox Series X wireless controller to play this game on my PC. That's as standard of a controller as it can get so the experience should be excellent right? Wrong! The people at SE for some dumb reason thought it would be a good idea to mix up the buttons. What I mean by that is, if the button prompt in game says "X" what you need to press on your controller is "Y." If the button prompt says "A," what you need to press is "B." And to make matters worse, sometimes they have Dualshock button prompts like Triangle in there just to fuck you up even more. And then to put the icing on the shat cake, sometimes "X" really does mean "X" and etc... And no, you can't change the control scheme in game. You have to do it outside like on Steam's controller config or xbox accessories app. Like what in the actual fuck.

#2: Anti Aliasing is ass and there is no way to change it.

The graphics settings actually has a good amount of options... Except AA... Why??? Ironically enabling DLSS seems to produce less jaggies compared to whatever the shit form of AA it's using.

#3: Pop Ins and Bugs.

I have a 5950x and a 3080. I am able to play this game at 3440 x 1440 with Ray Tracing set to Ultra and all that jazz at around 80sh fps without any issues. But once in a while during cutscenes, you get this weird ass pop in nonsense. For example, lets say the Camera is facing the bad guys, then it switches to your characters and for less than 1 second, you notice that it loads in the assets. Like it's very quick but you notice it. And the camera keeps going back and forth in the cutscene and you notice this loading in of assets, even if it takes less than a second, every damn time the Camera switches. This doesn't happen every cutscene but it does happen. And there's a crap ton of other bugs.

#4: Game reverts back to 16:9 for cutscenes even if you have an Ultrawide monitor

Game has official ultrawide support... But for gameplay only! Like what? There are so many cutscenes in this game so it keeps on going to 16x9 then switching to 21:9. Who in the tits of holy Mary thought this was a good idea??? Luckily you can fix it easily through a hex editor but what the shit.

Bonus #5: DF says Consoles can't 1080p 60fps locked. (afaik, there's no Ray Tracing either on consoles). They can run 4k 30fps though...

Not a knock against consoles but just goes to show how shat this game really is in terms of optimization.

With all that being said, it is a pretty fun game. The characters even if redesigned feel like the Guardians that you know from the Marvel movies and the plot is entertaining. When the game comes together, it's great and there are certainly unique locations. But holy fuck do they need to fix this shit on every platform.

Thanks for the heads up, Yuri. Looks like it's better to skip the game right now and come back after some updates to see if they've fixed it or if it still has problems.

And we can't forget that both AMD and Nvidia have troubles with this game, which makes you wonder if it's a problem on their side and newer drivers will fix those problems (btw, AMD has released a new driver that should improve some problems), or if the problems come from the game and both parts will have to work to fix it.

You'd think at that point it would be better to just go with Raid instead. I would if I reached 4-5TB.

Probably but I now have 2 main backup drives. One 10TB seagate and now the 16TB western digital. I could raid them but I think keeping the Seagate one in cold storage might be good enough with once in a while backups to it.

Talking about bad optimisations for GoTG on consoles.. imagine matching barely matching performance to an 2/3 generations GPU's :s Even the 6600XT craps all over PS5 and XSX, somethings definitely up with that. Unless they couldn't get 1440P locked at 60.. but then from the DF tech breakdown they even had to lower settings at 1080P lol.

The fact that a 3060 Ti can beat a 6700XT might mean this game is the inverse of Asscreed Valhalla, just instead of heavily favouring AMD, this game heavily favours Nvidia. Still quite unusual to see it stick through the console port.
