These HD Mods for Valheim overhaul numerous textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/these-hd-mods-for-valheim-overhaul-numerous-textures/
Valheim is one of the most popular games right now. As such, it comes as no surprise that various modders have released new HD Texture Packs for it, aiming to overhaul numerous textures.
>> There are four packs from four different modders. Check them out in the article. By the way, a fan has also made a World Generator.
GTA Underground combines the maps of GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, Manhunt & Bully
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/gta-underground-combines-the-maps-of-gta-iii-vice-city-san-andreas-manhunt-bully/
Modder ‘dkluin’ has released a brand new version of the GTA Underground mod. In case you weren’t aware of, GTA Underground combines the San Andreas, Liberty City, Vice City, Manhunt I/II, Bullworth, and custom maps into one big map.
Version 4.1.7 comes with a grand new installer. The mod now supports 11 languages, including Spanish, Franch, Russian, Dutch, German and more.
Furthermore, this new version packs a number of stability and performance tweaks. Additionally, it fixes various crash fixes. For instance, it fixes a radar legend crash. It also fixes numerous UG-MP synchronization problems, such as vehicle colours not persisting after installing them in a mod shop and not being able to roll up windows again after rolling them down earlier (all vehicles will appear to have no windows).
Moreover, Version 4.1.7 packs numerous map improvements. For example, it fixes collisions in Vice City and restores water in missing spots. It also updates the radar map.
>> You only need to own San Andreas to use this mod, that you can download from ModDB.
What if every CS:GO map was Nuke?
https://www.pcgamer.com/what-if-every-csgo-map-was-nuke/
There are a lot of maps in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. But most of them aren't Nuke—and if you really, really like Nuke, that could be a problem. Thankfully, one mapper has been giving some of CS:GO's most iconic maps a Nuke-themed makeover, reimagining Cache, Office and Mirage as sterile nuclear power plants.
>> You'll find them at Steam's Workshop.
Teardown has a Steam Workshop now, and that means there's a physics gun
https://www.pcgamer.com/teardown-has-steam-workshop-now-and-that-means-theres-a-physics-gun/
Demolition simulator turned destructive puzzle-heist Teardown updated with Steam Workshop support on March 4, and players have already got to work on some great new maps, playgrounds, minigames, and tools. Specifically, modder Fall Guy 2106 has obviously made a Garry's Mod-style physics gun and a Half-Life 2 gravity gun for Teardown.
>> There are many more mods listed in the article.

The Legend of Bum-bo gets a free expansion with a new character and save function

That update, called The Lost Expansion, is now live on Steam, and free for all players. As planned, it includes a new playable character called The Lost, a new type of tile called "Ghost Tiles," a trio of new bosses, more than ten new unlockable items, new challenges and achievements, improved audio, and the ability to save and resume your progress mid-game.
The Division 2's next big update won't be out until late 2021 'at the earliest'
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-division-2s-next-big-update-wont-be-out-until-late-2021-at-the-earliest/
In February, Ubisoft made the surprise announcement that The Division 2 will be getting new content in 2021. Title update 12, released in December 2020, had been planned as the game's final major update, but there was apparently enough demand to keep the wheels turning on it. "Thanks to your continued support, we are now in the early stages of development for fresh content to release later in 2021," Ubisoft said.
Chinese hit Tale of Immortal is getting an English translation
https://www.pcgamer.com/chinese-hit-tale-of-immortal-english-translation-confirmed/
Tale of Immortal exploded onto Steam in late January of this year, rising onto the best-sellers list, but like prior million-selling hits from China it's a largely regional success: The game isn't available in any language other than Simplified Chinese. Tale of Immortal is an action-adventure RPG sandbox about exploring a world inspired by chinese mythical bestiary the Classic of Mountains and Season. In the game, characters seek to use Taoist cultivation to master their martial arts and become god-like immortals.
You can make Loop Hero run faster by editing a file
https://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-make-loop-hero-run-faster-by-editing-a-file/

One criticism I have of Loop Hero is that, even with the option to double the speed turned on, it goes pretty slow. That can be fixed, however. Open the variables.ini file in your Steam/steamapps/common/Loop Hero directory with a text editor, search for the game_speed value, and crank it up as high as you like. The default is 60, so bump it to 120 or 240 and watch those loops fly by.
Players were farming so many legendaries in the Outriders demo it had to be changed
https://www.pcgamer.com/players-were-farming-so-many-legendaries-in-the-outriders-demo-it-had-to-be-changed/
Forthcoming looter-shooter Outriders seems to have found a way around the curse affecting loot-driven games last year by offering a free demo with the promise that progress will carry over into the full game. Apparently over two million players have taken developers People Can Fly up on the offer so far, but a few too many of those players also took the opportunity to farm hoards of legendary items so they'll be ready for the full game.

https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-an-adorable-factory-game-about-machine-learning-and-cats/
Machine learning is perhaps old hat by now, but what's never going to be old hat is cats. People just can't seem to get enough of them. Learning Factory is an Early Access game that released last month about building an automated factory that produces the things cats want to buy, then sells them. Your job is to keep the shelves stocked and the cats happy—and earn money by selling at optimal prices.

Phasmophobia update teaches ghosts to turn corners and open doors
https://www.pcgamer.com/phasmophobia-update-teaches-ghosts-to-turn-corners-and-open-doors/
The horrible apparitions of indie cooperative horror game Phasmophobia are now at the very least as smart as the velociraptors from 1993 movie Jurassic Park, because they can open doors. Why would they open doors? I don't really know actually, because surely ghosts should just walk through them. Either way, the banner feature of the March 6 patch is an overall improvement to the ghost's AI.
Anger Foot is Duke Nukem's Mighty Boot: The Game
https://www.pcgamer.com/anger-foot-is-duke-nukems-mighty-boot-the-game/
When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. In Anger Foot you have a foot, and every problem looks like it would benefit from a good kicking. You kick doors, which fly off their hinges and into the faces of reptilian dudes with baseball bats, you kick barrels (which explode), and you kick dudes (who die). While this is happening, the music kicks your eardrums in (which rules).

https://www.pcgamer.com/over-5000-final-fantasy-14-players-were-banned-for-real-money-trading-in-one-week/
Between February 25 and March 3 this year, Square Enix banned over 5,000 players from Final Fantasy 14 for activities related to real-money trading. Though paying for in-game gear, boosts, and so on with actual money is prohibited, there are still plenty of people out there selling items, raid clears, mounts, PvP ranks, whole accounts, and the in-game currency of gil, which people are supposed to be trading with.

Among Us has added a new quickchat option, available to all players but targeted especially at its younger audience: players now have to enter their age, and those registered as under 13 will only be able to use this from now on. Innersloth describes the standard chat wheel format as "an easier, faster and safer option to play if you're using text chat" though players can still toggle free chat on and off in settings.
Blaseball, the silent browser phenomenon, gets an official soundtrack

Internet sports simulator Blaseball is many things. A robust fantasy baseball league, a crowdsourced piece of existential horror, beloved home of the Baltimore Crabs (claws up!). But a banging audio experience it is decisively not—at least, not until the official soundtrack to a silent browser game drops later this year.

This Dark Souls 3 mod brings Sekiro's weapons and movesets to Lothric
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-dark-souls-3-mod-brings-sekiros-weapons-and-movesets-to-lothric/
If you're like me, every new playthrough of Dark Souls 3 demands a new weapon, trying your luck with a new aspect of the game's arsenal. But if you're looking to really dart around Lothric's monsters, you could always try returning to Dark Souls 3 with one of nine weapons pulled from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Spotted by the chosen undead over at RPS, Rogier "Rhodan" Noordhuizen's Blades Of Ashina mod let you nip around with the lightning-fast strikes of Fromsoft's more recent slasher. While it's been out in some form since last June, the latest Nexus release lets you play around with nine of Sekiro's weapons—from Katanas and Kunai to the more esoteric Flame Vent and the Talon Of Hatred.
The best part? These aren't simply model swaps for existing weapons. Each comes with a bespoke moveset that aim to emulate their corresponding Sekiro attacks as closely as possible.
Dark Souls 3 is a damn sports game now thanks to this amazing mod
https://www.pcgamer.com/dark-souls-3-is-a-damn-sports-game-now-thanks-to-this-amazing-mod/
When you're invaded in a Dark Souls game, it's never certain whether the trespasser is there to kick you off a bridge, offer up a helping hand, or judge your outfit. And until now, playing soccer with a phantom has never been one such possibility. To see what I mean, you'll need to download and install the Lothric Olympics mod, one of the most impressive Dark Souls 3 mods I've seen yet—and I've seen Pocket Souls, a mod that turns the game into a grimdark Pokemon.
But what Pocket Souls does for PvE, the Lothric Olympics does for PvP, creating whole new games within Dark Souls 3 rather than adding new cosmetics or tweaking basic variables.
The Lothric Olympics mod description puts it plainly, asking what the Ashen Ones do in their spare time. Dark Souls 3 is pretty difficult, so I figured they'd kick back and relax, sip on some craft estus, but mod creator Wallacetheswifter thinks they'd instead kick around a Rock Lizard in a soccer field suspended over Archdragon Peak or stumble through an elaborate, devious obstacle course in the Undead Settlement.

Doom Eternal's next DLC teases the battle with the Dark Lord
https://www.pcgamer.com/doom-eternals-next-dlc-teases-the-battle-with-the-dark-lord/
Dropping what might appear to be the most fire Speed Metal album cover of 2021, the Doom Twitter account has let us all know that a teaser for Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two will be coming on March 15th, just a week from today. The DLC will presumably give us some closure to the exponentially-increasing stakes of the convoluted Doom 2016 timeline. It will likely answer important questions like "What's a Dark Lord, and can you kill it?"

https://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-now-play-2d-minecraft-in-the-minecraft-chat-window/
I wish it was 2007 again because there's rarely been a better reason to use Xzibit's "Yo Dawg" meme. "I heard you liked Minecraft, so we put Minecraft in your Minecraft so you can Minecraft while you Minecraft."
The first Minecraft in this case is regular Minecraft, but the second Minecraft is a wee little itty bitty 2D version of Minecraft you can play in the chat window of regular Minecraft. The question isn't why, the question is: why not?
World of Warcraft's much-anticipated patch arrives tomorrow, improves Mythic+ dungeon gear
https://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warcrafts-much-anticipated-patch-arrives-tomorrow-improves-mythic-dungeon-gear/
Though World of Warcraft's big Chains of Domination update is months away, it's getting a smaller patch tomorrow that brings a bunch of exciting improvements—especially if you spend a lot of time in its Mythic+ dungeons. That's because Patch 9.0.5 is bringing back Valor points, a currency used to upgrade Mythic+ dungeon gear. As I explained in a previous article, Shadowlands endgame gear is so sparse that a lot of players feel stuck or forced to participate in activities that might not interest them, such as PvP. With the introduction of Valor points, however, dungeoneers will be able to upgrade their gear to higher levels even if they don't get a coveted loot drop at the end of a dungeon.

The studio that made sci-fi shooter Disintegration is closing
https://www.pcgamer.com/v1-interactive-disintegration-closure/
Hoverbike shooter Disintegration had only been out for a few months when developer V1 Interactive removed its multiplayer modes, saying that they failed to attract "a significant audience" despite some interest in the singleplayer campaign. That was in November of last year, and at the time, studio co-founder Marcus Lehto said on Twitter that the game "never got a fair shake." We didn't hear much about Disintegration after that, and so today's news doesn't come as an enormous surprise: V1 Interactive is closing.
Dota 2's tutorial sucks, so Dota 2 players are spending $25,000 to make a new one
https://www.pcgamer.com/dota-2s-tutorial-sucks-so-dota-2-players-are-spending-dollar25000-to-make-a-new-one/
It's a perennial joke in the Dota 2 community that the last tutorial started with the objective to buy a Stout Shield—an item that was removed from the game three weeks later. Dota 2 is a game that regularly reinvents huge parts of itself with massive shakeups like the late 2019 Outlanders patch, and what tutorials once existed quickly became loaded with outdated mechanics and inaccuracies.

What do SiN Episodes, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and Pirates, Vikings, and Knights 2 have in common? They're all Source engine games, which means that even though they have wildly different art styles, they somehow all look like Source engine games.
Identifying a game's engine is kind of like identifying what kind of paint was used: Even if they're very different from each other, two oil paintings both look like oil paintings, not acrylics or watercolors. The effect is easy to see via Twitter account Source Engine Aesthetics, which was created by Dusk developer David Szymanski. He's on a mission to collect iconic screenshots from the Source era of mods and games, as well as some general dreamscapes.

The glowing, presumably evil cubes can be used to craft some of the most important items in the game like smelters, kilns, blast furnaces, and fast-travel portals. Early in the game, surtling cores are a pretty precious resource that takes a lot of dangerous work and exploration to find.

Huge Hunt: Showdown update overhauls the experience for new players
https://www.pcgamer.com/hunt-showdown-update-1-5-whats-new/
Crytek's Hunt: Showdown is a unique shooter, a medium-scale open world where players team up, find and take down monsters, then ultimately fight each other (or gleefully evacuate with arms a-laden). It's been receiving updates fairly regularly ever since its early access launch in February 2018 (it hit full release in late 2019), and now a major 1.5 update has overhauled the game's frontend, made changes big and small, and added an armory's worth of new ammunition types. In a game where one good shot is a kill (on players, anyway), the latter is a Big Deal.

Used to prefer playing third person/FPS shooters with a gamepad, but now I find playing those games with gamepad to being insanely cumbersome and wonky. I can't even play GTA V anymore, because the keyboard controls are dogshit, but the game was clearly designed for gamepad, and since that feels like sliding on ice with aiming, I can't even play the game anymore.
Games like Gears and Saints row I largely prefer playing with M+K now. Also just started the Tomb Raider trilogy (even though the first of the reboot has doshit KB controls/mouse aiming).
If a game is designed with M+K in mind, then those controls should work perfectly, and of course can be translated to gamepad, but if it's the opposite, then K+M suffers greatly. Kinda why I'm getting super tired of publishers porting console games to PC and not bothering with fine tuning the K+M control schemes.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
