Thief patch will add Mantle and TrueAudio to Garrett’s tool belt

Comment

This Tuesday Eidos Montreal are releasing a patch for Thief that will soup up the looks and the sounds of their new game. By adding support for AMD’s new Mantle api and TrueAudio technology the game will both look and sound better, all while boosting framerate. That’s what they say, at least.

We’ll know on 18 March.

Battlefield: Vietnam turns 10. “There was actually an entirely new game mode that was cut late in the project”

Comments4

It’s ten years since the release of Battlefield: Vietnam and DICE are getting whimsical with nostalgia. They’ve got together members of the old team to talk about the game’s development and it’s turned up a couple of juicy details. For instance, “There was actually an entirely new game mode that was cut late in the project.” And it sounds like a real challenge.

Myo wristbands let you use your hands with the Oculus Rift

Comment

The Oculus Rift VR headset does a fine job of putting your head into a game’s world, letting you look around freely as though you weren’t sat in front of a computer. It does it so well in fact that it’s held back by other computer devices. When you think you’re in a game, using a keyboard and mouse is disappointing. It doesn’t match up to the experience.

The Myo wrist band’s been developed to counter that.

Starbound invaded by Agaran funghi

Comment

A horror is coming to Starbound. It’s not yet escaped Early Access and a nightmare is stalking the caverns and caves of the space exploration game, the Agaran funghi.

These marauding space mushrooms have been spotted by the community but not much is known about them. Now developer Chucklefish has broadcast a transmission from the researcher sent to detail the creatures.

It doesn’t end well.

New CRYENGINE Video Shows Off Realtime Fluid/Water Effects

YouTube’s member ’18T220′ has posted a video, showcasing real-time fluid/water effects in CRYENGINE that come really close to those powered by PhysX. As always, this is a WIP project, meaning that those fluid effects can get even better, despite the fact that they look really impressive even at their current state. Enjoy! Continue reading

Tempted to get Book of Legends but its a indie title ;(

I never buy Indie titles off of steam only through as bundles on bundling sites T.T.

Why not? Seems like an odd distinction these days...

Yo anyone playing ds2 on pc? Also would you guys recommend getting an Xbox pad to play action games on pc? And what's the compatibility like in terms of Xbox pad for pc games?

Atm just playing league of legends really, have downloaded bf4 and considering getting titanfall, also looking to finish walking dead ep1 and maybe get the second one, as its a pretty stellar game.

I'd definitely get a pad to play some games genres on pc. Mouse+Kboard is great for first and third person shooters, and obviously all kinds of strategy games, but for genres like action or racing games a gamepad is miles better.

And an xbox360 works perfectly, but I use a wired one that bought used. With a wireless one there's the hassle of the receiver. In any case, you shouldn't have to find compatibility problems, at all.

Doesnt work for me on Firefox or Chrome but when I opened it (the image itself) in a link it worked o.O

Hmm maybe it is just cached for me or something. Can everyone else see it? And yea I really should remember to rename the GIFs...

As for DS2 for some reason I preordered it (found it super cheap so decided fuck it) even tho I never really got into the first one. I have been meaning to go back to it but with the whole GFWL thing shutting down news I decided I would wait because if they change it to Steamworks the save will be reset anyway. And since it's now looking like they might not even bother fixing it I decided i would just play 2 instead...

I don't see it either, on Firefox 27.0.1

I had to quote you to see that there was an image and then copy the url on another tab to see it.

That is strange it works for me even after clearing the cache... Ok so does it work now? I edited the post with a shorter version on a different host.

Strange indeed. We had a similar problem with the funny pics thread.

And no, it still doesn't show. What I see now is the link  dl-web.dropbox bla, bla, bla.

Can you try it editing what's after the "Mako2.gif"? Maybe that is messing with the site code (unlikely, I know).
