What? Did I miss something technical and juicy?

I don't think CGI would go with an AMD processor though, could be wrong about that.
I think he is going with the Intel 28 core chip at some point?

I am just waiting for DRAM and GPU's to drop in price and then I can complete my new Coffee lake rig.
No way in hell am I paying $800 for only 32GB of ram, that's some bullshit.

@Machiavellian: You didn't miss much, just his opinion: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=236730

And well, I didn't say that you two would buy it, just that you are two of the few on this site that could actually consider going for something like that. Another one could be Burning Typhoon because he streams, but I think he's happy with his 1800X.

As for the insane DRAM prices, maybe (but just maybe) this will help bringing them down a bit: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/dram-makers-likely-to-get-fined-millions-(if-not-billions)-on-antitrust-fines-in-china.html

Cheers for that, I actually missed that thread! Haha

I think we may end up transitioning to RGB LED anyway before OLED actually catches on in big displays.
Some of the concept panels have been extremely impressive.

Talking again about monitors, some people can be having more than they asked for, but with worse results:

Your 1440p Monitor Could Be Using a 4K Panel
<SNIP>

Yeah, I knew this was happening and it sucks.
My next panel will be 4k anyway I think.

Turns out instead of playing Fallout 4 or Mario Tennis this weekend I completely binged on this little gem:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/451020/Battle_Chasers_Nightwar/

It's just an amazing little turn based RPG. It doesn't have some complicated new mechanics. It only does a few things and it does them incredibly well. It looks and feels incredible. It's something I would only expect from Japan but here we are. It's 50% off right now and it just is a must buy for every turn based strategy or JRPG fan!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Interesting, how long is the game? I've had it on my radar for a while, but I have other turn-based games to play first so I'm not going to get it yet.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Not sure how long but it's decently sized. I've been at it for maybe 15h and I don't feel I've reached half point yet. I didn't really grind that much, that that's easily possible. While the battle animations are lavish and there is no way to  speed them up or skip them, the battles do not feel too slow.

The game certainly sucked me in from the start. Not necessarily because of the story or characters but because of the style and the engaging and strategic battle system. Also  lots of nice loot and a fishing minigame!

I'd say it's definitely worth even the full price.

Somebody has turned the famous dancing baby GIF into a Quake sprite, and why not?
https://www.pcgamer.com/somebody-has-turned-the-famous-dancing-baby-gif-into-a-quake-sprite-and-why-not/
1996: the year of both classic FPS Quake and of the famous viral video of a dancing virtual baby, which spawned an equally famous GIF that was emailed across offices around the world. Joshua Skelton, lead artist on first-person rogue-like Delver, has now combined the two.
As he says in the tweet, it's not all about getting the babies into the game: he's creating a tool to convert GIFs into in-game sprites. It's apparently quite simple to pull off. "I just renamed baby.spr to soldier.mdl! The Quake engine treats 2D sprites and 3D meshes (and 3D maps!) generically as models and they can (mostly) be used interchangeably," he says.

Friday the 13th was actually quite a bit of fun when it came out last year—with the right group of players, at least—and showed real potential for future improvements, too. Sadly, publisher Gun Media has now confirmed that potential will never be realized, as new content development has been permanently ended.

Digital adaptations of Viticulture and Charterstone board games in the works
https://www.pcgamer.com/digital-adaptations-of-viticulture-and-charterstone-board-games-in-the-works/
In a lengthy post earlier this month about Scythe: Digital Edition and the realities of digital game development, designer-owner Jamey Stegmaier of Stonemaier Games casually announced that the company was actively working towards digital adaptations of popular games Viticulture and Charterstone. Digital adaptations of both games are in the works, though very early in development for Charterstone, while Viticulture is still without a developer though Stegmaier has been pursuing and choosing one for about two years. “I’m excited about Scythe Digital,” posted Stegmaier, “just as I’m eager to move forward with Viticulture Digital. Charterstone Digital is also in the works.” Viticulture, a 2013 board game that has become a consistent seller, is the worker-placement board game about making wine that put Stonemaier games on the map. Charterstone, from 2017, is a legacy worker-placement game about building a village on a fantasy frontier. Jamey Stegmaier, Stonemaier Games’ only full time employee, was the designer on all three games.

Managing your own jail in Prison Architect just got a little bit tougher. As of the latest update, prisoners can now attempt to escape using a rope fashioned from their own jumpsuits.
Prisoners working in the laundry will occasionally try to steal five uniforms to make the rope, and may trade it with other prisoners. If you don't notice the missing stock or find the rope stashed away, then they'll head out to the nearest wall, fling the rope over, and make their escape. You'll have to tell a workman to get it down sharpish, because other prisoners can follow them.

Fortnite’s Playground mode, a limited time event announced last month, is coming soon. The mode was listed in the new updates message over the weekend, accompanied by a brief description: “Let your creativity run wild on your own private island!” I’m always moaning about never being able to build anything cool in regular Battle Royale, so this sounds like just the ticket.

The Walking Dead's final season may be the last to use the old engine

Telltale is making the move from the creaky Telltale Tool to Unity, unnamed sources told Variety. The switch has been long-rumoured thanks to a job listing for Unity engineers back in January. It’s probably overdue, as the engine has been around since 2004 and, despite improvements, hasn’t aged well.

MODS/EMULATORS

This Dark Souls mod lets you play the whole game as your favorite boss
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-dark-souls-mod-lets-you-play-the-whole-game-as-your-favorite-boss/
Three years ago, a mod team by the name of Datehacks released a Dark Souls boss arena mod which, using the leaked debug build of the game, let players control their favorite bosses and slaughter hapless NPCs. At the time, Datehacks couldn't manage much more than staged boss fights, but now the mod team is back with Age of Fire, a revamped mod which not only lets you play as every enemy and boss, but take them anywhere.
Age of Fire is still a work in progress, but it's already capable of much more than the boss arena mod. According to Datehacks' Reddit post, the finished mod will enable players to play as any enemy in any area. The best part is that size doesn't matter: even in tight areas, you'll be able to play as giants like Seath the Scaleless thanks to some camera tricks. I don't know about you, but I cannot wait to see people blast Sen's Fortress to hell and back as Seath and Ceaseless Discharge.
