Forums - Sony - The PlayStation Vita Is Set to Succeed (2011, IGN)

Well they announced an unprecedented early $80 price drop later that year so you can see where the writer is coming from.

Writer came from shit...

"Less than six months later on July 28, 2011, Nintendo announced a significant price reduction from US$249 to US$169 amid disappointing sales." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_3DS

The 3DS price cut already happened and the announcement of MK7 and Super Mario 3D Land already occurred.  This article is supposedly written on Oct 22, 2011 which is months after the price cut and the start of the 3DS revitalization.

That article is a good one, the real competition for vita is tablets and Phones in terms of Power/users where 3DS is old formula of their first party games so this won't have any new innovative games from future except milking Nintendo IP's and this doesn't has hardware power to be future proof. From next year Vita gonna shine with its hardware with the games of Sony first party Studios(since they are busy now with PS4 launch for first year) and being a handy companion of PS4.

Ketzal's Corridors, Pushmo/Crashmo, Dillon's Rolling Western, Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword, Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!, Tokyo Crash Mobs, HarmoKnight, etc...

Yep, Nintendo just milks old IPs... No new IPs on 3DS eshop to see here!  Maybe if you actually knew a thing about the eshop then you wouldn't make such a false statement.  Next time perhaps you should study up on what you are going to state before someone calls you out on your bullshit.

Also, I laugh at your last sentence.

Sorry I did not mean to offend you and i was just referring about AAA games not those Downloadable Aracade/Indie titles, I referred Vita as a Portable hardcore Console which can play AAA Games like Assasins creed, Mortal Kombat, Rayman Origins/legends, Little big planet, Playstation All stars, Ninza Gaiden Sigma, MotoGP13, Soul Sacrifice, Limbo, Sly 4, Killzone, Tearaway, Gravity rush, Persona, Uncharted, Wipeout etc.,  and many more which can be done by Home Consoles. I don't see any one new AAA titles like we have in home consoles and also that appear exciting to world wide consumers at all in 3DS. Those new tablets/Phones has also have that power to deliver AAA titles but 3DS lacks for a future proof in Full 3D games with good visuals.

Vita is the Home Console in our pocket on which we can play those Home console quality Games on the go. I don't see 3DS in this category in future.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

So much for gaming journalism...?

You didn't offend me.  I am just stating that Nintendo has new IPs which mainly appear on their eshops lately more than retail.  I can almost safely bet that Pushmo/Crashmo series (a new IP that is only available on 3DS eshop) has outsold every single Vita title that you have stated.  Your "AAA" games on Vita can't even stand up to Nintendo's 3DSWare efforts.  Now lets compare retail games... Wait maybe we shouldn't.  Nintendo rapes Sony in retail games sold on hand helds.  Animal Crossing: New Leaf will soon outsell all the games you listed on Vita combined.  Let me know when the Vita gets a million seller.

well at guess we will just have to wait and see but just remember the 3ds is actually getting alot of good 3th party support also which is helping it.

Yes, 3DS has the sales which vita can never dream of but Vita has its unique ablities to shine with home console quality games on the go that appear to world wide Consumers in future.

isnt this pre price cut, SM3DL and MK7. Vita could have been bigger... than it had DOZENZ OF NO GAMEZZ (the absurd mem cost wouldnt have helped)

Yes, its getting good 3rd party support for games which are not like AAA most due to its hardware limitations. Its a good console to have fun but its not a console for future which can serve the quality of Next Gen titles. Vita can have PS4 games as well on the go if we connect to interent but 3DS can never have this ability.

I'm sure that Sony gonna support Vita better and won't give up because they have been supporting every console for atlease 7 years with their software and even we have Software coming for PSP still with third partities.

the vita could easily ''compete'' with the 3ds if sony actually released more great games, also not many people are will to pay 250$ for a handheld. it all goes to show you games sell a system. also if you think nintendo just milks game series, well i believe your wrong. if sells there will be more games in the series, if you actually played some of the games you will see there great, fun and unque. as long as a game series sells more will come. example: Call Of Duty

What is the point of discussing a two year old article?

It was an article with predictions about the future of the gaming industry. We obviously could not discuss it in any meaningful way when it was written. Now, it can be used as evidence that IGN do not understand hwo the video game market works.
