Forums - Gaming - Hat In Time - Mario 64/Banjo-Kazooie like Kickstarter ending in 48 hours

A Hat In Time is a 3D Mario 64/Sunshine/Banjo-Kazooie alike game being funded via Kickstarter ($230k already raised on a goal of $30k) and it's one of the most promising indie efforts I've ever seen. I haven't been this excited for a game in years. Go watch the trailer:

and read the Kickstarter description:

Here's an undirected playthrough of the alpha version, feel free to skip through it. All the little details are there; you can duck, roll, crouch, wall kick, swim and so on. Birds fly away when you run up to them. The game looks substantially complete.

The game is planned to be seven major levels with multiple objectives (stars/shines) in each and take 10-20 hours when finished. It's releasing in early 2014. It will be on PC and support gamepads, and they're negotiating with publishers for a Wii U version as well.

The current stretch goal is that every $15k raised past the current $230k will get a new music track from Banjo-Kazooie composer Grant Kirkhope. The Kickstarter ends in 48 hours!

WOW that looks awesome! Reminds me I have to play Banjo Kazooie. But I currently have no many to give... I really hope we can get to experience the game

this game looks really interesting

Looks lovely. The original target of £30k seem a bit lower for a game of this scope. 230k raised makes it looks a more feasible project to create.

I don't know if they spent much to create the demo level seen. I think the extra money is more for paying external help: music, voice acting, etc.

That where the orignal 30k target was going to be spent. It still seems they underestimated the orignal potenial budget a lot for the game of this complexability. They should be fine however with the 230k budget they have now got though.

I think their date estimate will be blown out of the water. If the demo is anything close to the current version, there is no way they can do six more of that level quality and finish that one and polish in eight months.

They could release each level as a digital download in the episodic format as option to counter potenial delays.

Looks great - I hope it comes out on Steam, if I remember right, it is on Steam Greenlight ;p.

I hope it doesn't, so that the release version remains without DRM.

Oh that was something that isn't clear... What are the release platforms? It looks really nice but if it's only for PC I really doubt I could play it :/
