Forums - Microsoft - Ignore Amazon: Xbox One Doesn't Have a Launch Date

IGN

Ignore those pre-order emails Amazon's been sending you, or the rumors you've been reading: Xbox One is not launching on November 27. Conveniently, that's just a few days before the United States' biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday, but it isn't necessarily the date Microsoft's settled on for Xbox One. It's just Amazon's best guess.

“We have not informed our retail partners about a specific launch date for the Xbox One," Microsoft told IGN. "It is commonplace for retailers to put placeholders dates and prices into our system until they are given a specific date and price. We are excited to release the Xbox One in November 2013.”

That in mind, it's entirely possible November 27 could end up becoming Xbox One day. But with Battlefield 4 releasing in October, and Call of Duty and Watch Dogs arriving earlier in November, Microsoft would lose out on significant sales momentum by missing those games' dates.

I'm hoping for first week of November. I work retail, and getting off near Black Friday is not a option for me. Ugh.

It's just that simple.

Releasing a few days before Black Friday (even a week) for any console is not smart IMO. If it's a successful launch and it sells out almost completely, that means they won't have enough time to stock up for BF so that's a missed opportunity. I believe that end of October would be ideal because you have the early adopters rushing to get it, which gives plenty of time to stock up for BF and then again for Christmas.

Was i the only one who heard a november 23 release date at E3?
I could have sworn that i heard a girl ask somebody from microsoft questions about the xbox one and i clearly heard November 23 but not sure what it was for.

hmm, could this be a sign that its delayed??

By what? Days? MS has still said November.

It's just that simple.

It'll probably be close to the real date. Of course, I think launching in late November is a mistake. Black Friday doesn't add to your sales, as some believe, but actually takes away from your sales. This is because most people, especially those with less disposable income, are buying things that are having great holiday deals.

I also think that Sony is going to be launching in late Oct in the US, early Nov at the latest, to take advantage of all the next gen 3rd party games that are releasing around that time. MS is making a mistake if they think they can launch almost a month after the PS4, miss out on the launch hype for some major titles, and still sell as well as the PS4 this holiday season.

If the ps4 is releasing a month before Xbone.. then Xbone have a massive problem in sales.

Hmm, he said just November and MS knows how the market works... Expect it early November.

Both will release in November. Question is which one will go first (I believe the PS4 will) and which one will have the most consoles available at launch (again I believe the PS4 will)
