Forums - Gaming - Do you still play your old games? How much replay value can a game have?

When my SNES worked I was always playing Super Mario World and SSF2 on it. I don't really replay old games nowadays because of my lack of time, but I do play Counter-Strike and Starfox 64 from time to time.

I'm 34 years old and I still live in the past. All my retro game systems are still hook-up so I can play often.

I have 2 lists per say

Backlog - Consists of modern games/games i havnt beaten as of yet.

Replay Backlog - Consists of games i've beaten but its been awhile and looking to replay.

Its not that a game needs replay value (its nice to have though) its more about the game being good enough to warrant you going back years later and replaying :D

@bold Impressive never heard anyone praise that game. I had a lot of fun with it facing off against my brother in its local multiplayer mode. And going throught campaign coop was fun.

I've never found anyone else who has ever played the game.  I think it's fantastic.  And yeah, the co-op mode is a blast, but I enjoy "Precinct Assault" mode (the one where you send out tanks and helicopters" the most.  I come back to that every now and again and play it through from scratch.  Ridiculously fun.

Tiberian Sun is soo underrated. It's my favourite C&C game after Red Alert 1.

It's my favourite C&C game, I just love it to pieces.  Even if it is a bit unbalanced; it's just so much fun.  And yeah, I kinda feel it gets ignored since most people refer to Red Alert 1/2 as being the best games.

Well, there are a few ways I can want to return to a game. Firstly, the campaign needs to be so enthralling that I want to experience it once more and an added bonus being extras such as trophies. Or if the multiplayer continues to keep me hooked. Therefore, both together show a significant replay value.

I played Quake II and Diablo (as warrior, mage and rogue) many times, and I'd replay Thief II too, but I haven't even the time to play all my huge backlog titles once.
I played Hexen twice, once as a cleric and once as a mage.
I used to play Intellivision games lots of times.
I played Scorched 3D for years, but I stopped after a patch made it spam levels with too many parachuted crates at each turn, making it lame.
I must reinstall Grand Prix Legends, with XP it was unstable (with previous Win versions it ran fine), I hope on Win 7 and with the proper tool to make it run on just one core it will run with fewer problems (maybe it could have run well on XP too, had some other game not messed drivers up).
So, IMHO, replay value, at least for some classics, exists, and I think it will keep on existing also on a part of the current games that will become classics too.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Kingdom Hearts II, Chrono Trigger

I still play kingdom hearts as well. Especially 358/2, especially for the secret endings. Do the secret endings motive any of you guys?

Replay value = fun. If the game is fun I will play it again.

crash bandicoot 123 since I have yet to unlock all gems, third strike on ggpo ( in love with it even with his flaws ) and that's pretty much it.

Of course, I started speed running Contra and Super C. I also started up Zelda 2 Adventures of Link also.
