Forums - Sony - Publishers may be able to block used games on the PS4?

Yeah this thread is pointless tretton was very clear with his presentation. The used game issue is the same as it is now on ps3. I buy games all the time brand new and used. Sometimes I will haft to pay for online on ps3 if I buy a used game so what. Its definitely not all the time. Xbox one is the same but has so many more restrictions it just sounds like your renting a game from them and basically being a third party person to them. another words your dealing the games for them and they can charge what they want with this infrastructure on xbox one. Not to mention that creepy all seeing f*^&in eye that is listening for xbox on . What a crock ! Oh and you haft to check in every 24 hours because I bet it is recording 24 hrs like a dvr that's why its so big like a vcr! RECORDING YOUR LIFE!

Are Kotaku editors really that stupid or are they just trolling for hits from the MS apologists?

Not everyone is looking to put PS4 down so it's on equal terms with Xbox One, or was it called XBone on this side of the forums? People have the right to know, if they have questions. You are an advocate of rights aren't you? If not, your avatar would say otherwise.

You're right. People have the right to know something that's been known for the last 5 or more years.

Equal terms? Not sure how old knowledge of publisher DRM is the same as Microsoft's system DRM. Last time I checked, that was fairly knew information.

You're right again. I am an advocate of rights, which is why I'm not buying the Xbox One.

It should be a banable offense for being so ignorant to the point that what you are arguing has been dismissed time and again and the ceo has it spelt out in black and white and yet you keeping arguin.

I mean... these people and their selective vision is hurting the quality of these threads.

This would include starcraft, jallard, gjolve and more

I'm gonna have to agree. This is getting beyond tiresome. The same people keep posting the same things over and over again when this issue has been clarified several times. This is nothing more than wishful thinking.

So, what we have here is a major gaming publication asserting that Sony's refusal to clarify their stance on what third party publishers can restrict with regard to their games is creating confusion.  People (the sorts of people that have already pre-ordered PS4s) don't like questions being raised about their console of choice, so rather than engage with those questions, make immature comments framed as personal attacks.

The same sorts of people that are promoting continuous confusion around the very similar approach taken to DRM by Microsoft, or the advantageous approach to sharing taken by same.

And as I previously mentioned, why on earth would it be wishful thinking to believe that Sony will follow Microsoft's lead without being able to apply the upside of the equation?  Its questionable enough on the Xbox ONE as it is.

I've learned that, when it comes to big corporations, it's not what they say, but what they don't say that you should be worried about.

nothing changed from this gen.

Sony needs to come out and set the record straight on this. I doubt we'll know for sure until a publisher spills the beans. I mean, earlier today a Sony exec said online passes would be banned from PS4. Yet people in this thread are screaming it's the same as PS3 and people should stop bringing it up. Well, clearly it needs addressing.

Which is essentially the point of this thread.

My hope (which may be vain) is that despite both consoles offering publishers the same opportunities to restrict gamers, third parties will follow MS and Sony in not restricting their games.
