Forums - Gaming - Am I over gaming or will it come back?

I experienced that for a while, funnily enough it was the time when I first started to really get into the industry and visit forums like this. So I still cared about games, I just didn't care to play them. It whilst I was at Uni so I was kind of forced from them initially, but then I got a tv and brought some games down. I was all set up but just couldn't be bothered any more.

Between the months of september 2011 and august 2012, I didn't play a single game. I tried to play a few, but It just wasn't that fun. I ended up playing Skyrim in late summer but I had to give myself time to get into it. Once I got into I loved, but I couldn't play more than 3hours a session. When I as young I would play 7hours a day. Since then the only game I've played in full is Bioshock.

Games are no longer a must for me, but I think thats a good thing, It gives me choice where as before I felt compelled to buy all the highly rated AAA titles. The only games I really want to play between now and christmas is Pikmin 3 and Puppeteer.

I'm still fighting it, but I feel the same too. These days I feel like I'm forcing myself to play games, and I'd rather just spend my time on the internet. Every once in a while though I enjoy games. Not as much as I did, but enjoy nevertheless.

I agree with this for sure. It saves you a lot of money and allows you to only play the best games for your tastes instead of buying 8+ games a year.

Yeah, gaming became meh lately. I will probably pick up a PS4 sometime this year maybe, but .....I don't sense magic in most of the games I seen at E3.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

I'm in the same boat. I just don't care for movie-esque 360/PS3 games and while Nintendo's new games look like fun they also look mostly like the games I already own (and havn't finished) on Wii. Frankly, I just don't have hours to devote to playing. I have minutes. So most of my gaming is on my smartphone now on the road or killing downtime waiting for whatever I'm waiting for.

Occasionally I get in a bit of Metroid Prime or Zelda but so far I've seen nothing 'next-gen' that makes me want to upgrade to experience something new the way Wii did. It's the same games, different system. So what?

I am seriously considering a GamePop (free until end of June) to play Android and iOS games off my TV - which will suit my limited play time better and I like it's Netflix pricing model (play whatever you want as much as you want for $6.99/mth). But also, it's a free box to slap Netflix, etc on another TV in the house.

You know what? I feel the same way anymore...it's just a general "been there, done that" kinda feeling. Plus, this new corporate greed is just sickening anymore. Take your "pay wall" and stick it up you ass!
