I was wondering about that! Seeing Link as the conductor in the original trailer made me think he wasn't going to be in the game. Still don't think he should, he seems to be the same clone from Brawl.

YES! Alfonzo is one of my favorite Wind Waker characters, so I'll be sure to play as Toon Link in the 3DS version. :P
Check this out. This site went to Miiverse (I'm assuming through the Smash Bros. community) and compiled a list of most wanted characters in Smash Bros. They ended with 17 characters, I think there should be more but whatever.
Anyway, the list actually does a good job of explaining the characters and why they could work. I'm sold because they included Wolf Link and Midna in it.

That's a great list. My favorite from that list would be Wolf Link, LIttle Mac, Dixie Kong and Geno.
