The market that started DRM and is more locked down than anything.

No it's not. Steam in fact allows a lot more freedom than what MS wants to push.

Well for starters there is more to the PC market than Steam. Secondly the only real area Steam has an advantage is offline mode and even that is not that big. Plus even that advantage varies from person to person on a case by case basis and Steam doesn't divulge what criteria they use in determining how usable offline mode is for one member versus another. Other than that what are these things that give Steam "a lot more freedom"?

You can trade in games on Xbone, if the publisher allows it. You cannot trade in any games on Steam.
You can have family members play your games on your machine whether you're logged in or not on Xbone. Not the case with Steam. I can go to a brother's house and sit at his PC and play his Steam games, if he is logged in.
You can gift a game to a friend even if you have played it on Xbone. You cannot gift games that have been played on Steam.
You can set up a network of 10 "family members" on Xbone who can play your library from their own console. This is not possible on Steam.

Steam is great but all it has over Xbone is offline mode. And that can last anywhere from days to months before you're required to check in. Unless I am forgetting something else with Steam.

What exactly does MS allow with the xbone ? because steam allows offline and dirt cheap games

MS allows up to ten people to play your games, allows you to sell your digital content, allows you to give a digital game to a friend, we dont know prices yet, but MS does do a summer sale and holiday sale too. Each service has its positives and negatives. It also allows for offline play for 24 hours

I honestly don't know if you're having a laugh or if you're serious.

steam offline mode is the same for all. some may not know how to correctly access it, but it a true offline sytem. it a differnt way toi access offline mode if you are already offline, but it works. I have had other people who had issues getting it to work, but they were just looking in the wrong spot to activate it.

no i am just stating the facts for you. have you read up on how the xbox one deals with digital content?

as a Steam user i look forward to the xbox one and what it offers. it may be the service that gets me off steam so much. I buy almost all my games for steam because of its ease of use, and its ability to keep track of all my games with no discs needed.

Are you serious?  I must be missing something because I don't see a single positive in what MS is doing.  Just because they've designed their console to take away so many rights that it seems like a gift when they allow us to keep some of them?  Or are sales the positive?

It is odd that he states to go to PC when it pioneered DRM....and can't trade in games to any retailer.

thats good. than it doesn't suit you. for me it does. sorry that we dont share the exact same feelings. But as a mainly pc gamer due to the ease of steam, i see great value in what the xbox one is doing. Not to mention the great entertainment features it will have. I still have yet to have a single person on this forum link me to a device that allows me to watch my media on my tv with voice controls. Only kinect with the 360 and the xbox one allow this. for me easy to use digital content and voice controls for media are my top two needs for a gaming system. I dont think I am the only one who like these features. I know people went gaga over siri on the iphone.

Something like this is going to happen with the ps4. Do you think EA, activision, ubisoft is going to block used games on Xbox one and not on ps4 no. All we can hope for is Sony happen a better solution then MS

sadly youre probably right.. Like I said earlier i just look at the PS Vita which i know is a handheld and hope sony doesnt do the same thing..
if they just leave it up to the publishers and thats it on the ps4 NO 24 hour check in no 1 hour check in no worrying about a internet connection thatll be better in my opinion... Sony as a 1st party right now isnt blocking used games.. if they leave it up to the publisher eventually itll fade away with publishers doing that on the ps4.. I hope cant wait til monday.. gonna be heaven or hell

I think its because not all of them have it and PC games are cheaper.

Microsoft wants to keep the price and add some more. Take into account that on the PC you dont have to pay for online play either.

He also mentioned Steam sales and how poor MS's track record is on pricing downloadable games.
