Forums - Gaming - How will Gaikai affect Sony's E3 2013 conference?

Gaikai (外海?, lit. "open ocean", i.e. an expansive outdoor space) is a cloud-based gaming service that allows users to play high-end PC and console video games rendered on remote servers via internet streaming, and instantly demo games and applications from a webpage or any internet-connected device.

Although the PS4 does not require an Internet connection, Sony says the PlayStation 4's feature set is much richer when online. The PlayStation Network (PSN) will allow players to access a variety of cloud-based services from the PlayStation Store including Sony's Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited subscription services.[14] Customers can browse titles on the PlayStation Store and stream games via Gaikai to try them out almost instantaneously.

The PlayStation 4 will not initially include the ability to support previous PlayStation console games.[57][58] Sony has instead detailed plans to explore cloud-based emulation of previous generations as a long-term solution to the challenges of backwards compatibility.

These points seem to be at odds with what most People expect from sony...while it's great that Ps4 will use physical media as it's main format allowing people to buy used, trade and loan games and such...but how will their cloud service work...

You will defenetly require a connection to stream a game....but if you buy a game that uses gaikai or let's a Ps2 game offered through Gaikai..how will you be able to play ofline?

Anyone have any thoughts or info on this before E3
