Forums - Sony - Sony could possibly stop you from playing used games

well, ii think they won't because they think the backlash will be too big. maybe they have that system where developers can decide but they won't have it with their own games. but sony is the company who uses an online pass where you have to pay money if you want to play an used game this gen so i think it's obvious that sony likes the idea to get money from used games.

Now, that makes sense :)

They may actually drop few of their original DRM/Used Games ideas following Microsoft backlash but I think they are going to have something in place.
Publishers (and themselves as publisher) want them.

To be honest mate your arguing for no reason. You're just reacting to the internet. All the internet does is complain about one thing or another.

And neither Sony or Microsoft should be branded as evil. Come on man, don't turn yourself into a console loyalist who just defends one console as well. That makes you no better than the people accusing microsoft.

At the end of the day we just need to wait until both MS and Sony clear up this mess. And until then we as consumers need to show both companies that gamers like ourselves will not accept the used game blocking/always online from either company. Sure it might not affect you, doesn't affect me either. But it's still an anti consumer policy and it should be got rid of from both consoles.

The twitter campaign by GAF was a good way to air these complaints from gamers. And a lot of gaming journalists and key industry people have picked up on the view of the general public. The fact is that DRM should not be on consoles. So rather than arguing about which is the better console and how Sony could do the same thing, lets try and make a difference so neither console has it, because in the end that will benefit gamers most.

You are right; this is a reaction to the internet; won't deny it. At the same time; it was really annoying in the past few weeks to have all Sony loyalist ruining a lot of good thread because of their "reactions". That's why I want to know what they are thinking of this? (And you response is very good by the way; better than those just coming in and saying unintelligent comments or attacking me for my OP).

Call me pessimistic but I do not believe we can avoid that... The DRM I mean.
And honestly; having to connect once per 24 hours is really nothing compared to actual DRM in place for digital or even Steam like distributions; I do not see this as a big deal.

Also; having Microsoft (or Sony) + the publisher/developer to receive some money out of a used game sale is way better than having GameStop ridiculously making money out of nothing :)

Microsofts DRM is professional status. Sonys DRM is rookie status. Xbox is the police box out of the 3 because it will have theost redtrictions and unnecessary mandatory things implemented.

At the end of the day, MS's DRM is harsher than the Sony DRM

#DealWithIt

Oh, can you link me the source you seem to have about Sony's DRM technology? As you seem to know more than we do about it :)

You quoted right before i editted

I know that you're hoping and praying to the lord that Sony does everything MS is doing. The mods will get me if i say why like last time so i will keep closed lip on it

We had threads made here about this stuff. So you should already know

If you are talking about the patent... Can you link the source?
If you are talking about the DRM in general; Sony said "up to the publisher" which is basicaly a way to say "It will happen but it is not our fault"

Dude... Why would I want Sony to do everything Microsoft is doing? I seriously do not follow you here.
I'm interrested in Sony's console; so I could not care much what they are doing with it.

While I don't know what Sony has planned in regards to used games; they already debunked the theory that this patent was being used for the PS4. It has nothing to do with the device at all.
