Forums - Gaming - Will the price of games remain $60, inrease or decrease? What is the higest amount you would pay for games?

Highest price you are willing to pay for a game day one?

$60 44 47.83%

$70 15 16.30%

$80 2 2.17%

$90 1 1.09%

$100 1 1.09%

>$100 2 2.17%

<$60 19 20.65%

Yo Mama! 7 7.61%

Total:91

So we have a new generation incoming and with a new generation the pricing on games is reevaluated.

Do you think $60 is the best price of games? Or will it increase or decrease? If there price was to increase, what would be the absolute highest price point you would be willing to pay for games on day one?

For me personally, the price now is probably here to stay but we will see more DLC. This is pretty much the absolute highest price I would be willing to pay for a game on day one. If the price were to increase, I wouldn't buy most games day one and would wait until the price went down.

$60 is already too steep these days, considering if you wait (sometimes as little as 3 weeks) you can get the game for $40 or less. There's a few exceptions with niche titles that might go out of print after the first run.

That being said I remember paying $89 (a lot of money when your 13) at Toys r Us for Streetfighter 2 for SNES.

Well let's be honnest : I know of very few people who are still buying lots of games day one, and for very few games like Bioshock.

I think that as the years pass, and the price rises up, a majority of people don't spend a full 60/70$ anymore and that's why the priced decreases really fast (on Steam and such) and publishers complains about them not selling games, or piracy.

Did you know that although there's never been that many gamers, and platforms, today's multi-platform video game blockbusters manage to sell barely as much or less that some video game of the playstation era ?

$60 is the most I'll pay. If next-gen prices increase again, I won't buy a next-gen system. Maybe I will once there's some greatest hits and free to play titles out there.

I remember paying $79 for Mario Tennis for N64.

But seriously, with rising costs and inflation, next gen should have higher prices. its only fair.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

60€

Fifa13 on the WiiU was 70€ at launch, no way I am going to pay this in the future...

You guys should be glad that you only have to pay 60$, in sweden you have to pay around 100$ for a new game. I hope for a decrease but i seriously doubt it

I think prices will go up, maybe not just from the beginning but a bit later, in a couple of years.

And 60 € is already too much for me, that's why I never buy games at launch.

Please excuse my bad English.

Is that with built in VAT? What percentage is that in Sweden?  20%? 25%?

The higher the price the lower the front loaded sales.

There arent many games i pay full price for. The higher it gets the more unlikely it is that i will not buy them day one.
