Forums - Gaming - Xbox 360 has more core gamers than the PS3

Do you agree

Yes 99 22.20%

No 300 67.26%

Wii does (see results) 47 10.54%

Total:446

I cant really decide, on the other hand PS3 did go for the entertainment approach strongly right at the start, but on the other hand Xbox has been rather lazy in releasing exclusives and very niche with its exclusives compared to PS3 (sticking mostly to shooters I mean)

Wii grabbed the non-gamer audience too with the fitness and social games which are more than just gaming I feel. So I'm pretty sure it does not have more core gamers.

The 360 has been longer in the market than the PS3, so perhaps a better measure would be the attach ratio divided by the number of years in the market. I don't know what the result would be then, by either way they are very close.

I'd say both have a similar number or core gamers anyway.

And yet I say, who care.Do you get an achievement for playing a FPS or something.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

360 gamers get achievements. PS3 gamers get trophies.

Microsoft has a better attach rate for the most part because it came out first and because its most core audience are shooter fans. These fans go out buy all the Halo's, Call of Duty and Gears of War games they can. Also because the system has been out longer. 84 million more games sold despite launching a year earlier. Based on the same time frame Sony would be about 60 million ahead.

The systems are fairly similar with only 14 franchises on each system representing the consoles top 30 games sold. However, I am giving Sony the edge based on more exclusives.

And RPG, haven't you look at the sales of Dragon Age, Skyrim and Fallout? Check your facts.

This is easy. The two systems are neck-and-neck in terms of sales, but we know that Microsoft sold millions of 360's to families solely for Dance Central and such. The PS3 doesn't really have appeal to anyone other than core gamers. Thus, the PS3 wins in this regard.

But see, is anyone actually buying a PS3 for this stuff?  Not as much as people buy 360's for Kinect, that's for sure.  Sony may have wanted it to go the same way, but it didn't.

Dude, Sony totally wanted to go that way. Just watch the advertisement and stuff.
