The US has such control over the middle east that they overthrew Saddam which brought about a government allied with Iran to rule Iraq (a government that's supporting the Syrian government put down the revolution now) and the Arab Spring overthrew America's closest Arab ally, Mubarak and replaced him with a much less friendly Muslim Brotherhood. Arab Spring also got rid of American allies in Tunisia, Yemen and even Qaddafi was working with the west and the US before he was overthrown.
Assad has killed more Arabs in the last two years than Israel has in decades combined. And you think the people that are living with the rebels don't know who they are? Do you think they don't know who is a Syrian and who is a foreigner among the rebels? Are they supposed to be that stupid that they can't tell accents and dialects apart?
