Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Republic: Xbox One Aftermath

Hello fellow Republic fans. Now that we have all had a couple nights sleep, the dust is settling, and our emotions are beginning to calm down. Gamers can be irrational, impatient, emotional and impulsive. Good news is that sooner or later we run out of steam. Case in point, the negative reactions are still here and still coming in, but are slowing to a trickle compared to the first 2 days (the reveal day, and the day after). We have got out of the worst of the storm people, and I must say, I am not worried in the slightest.

From what I gather, there are 3 major complaints of the Xbox One. They are:

- Lack of games.

- Semi-always online

- Used game restrictions

The good news is that the last two can be solved with as much as a firmware update. Also, take note that there is 6 months from now until November. That is plenty time to make amends. Let our enemies and our own fans that have lost their faith do the leg work; let them voice their concerns so that MS may hear it. In fact, perhaps they have all ready heard it.

Speaking to GamesIndustry International, Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle reiterated pre-Xbox One reveal comments from Aaron Greenberg, who said the platform holder planned to "tell one story across two events", with E3 "all about the games", including "tonnes of exclusives [and] world premieres". Eagle said: "E3 is absolutely all about the games. E3 is gaming, gaming, gaming. We've been very clear about that internally in our planning."

We are months away from the launch of & policy decisions are still being finalized. When they are, we will let you know.

Keep the faith, for there is hope.

As for gaming, our enemies are simply relishing that the reveal wasn't centered on games. By all means, they should know that E3 will have some games announced, but they are simply having too much fun now. It is more fun to belittle your competition with impunity rather then think logically that in a couple weeks the whole game could change. Oh no, it is fun to live in the present. To any Xbox fans, just let them have their moment, for ours will come in time.

You'd think that announcing 2 exclusives such as Forza 5 and Quantum Break would be enough to last a couple weeks, as it certainly is more exclusive annoucnements then MS has done in recent history. Ryse being re-announced as a controller-based Xbox One title makes 3. When was the last time Microsoft announced 3 exclusives in a couple days? Years.....so why still the negativity? Simply because our enemy will disregard this positive news and simply relish that games took a back seat.

Just because the reveal lacked in a games focus, it does not mean that the Xbox One will lack games. There is a strong possibility that not only will box One hold its own in exclusives, but might even have a stronger exclusive lineup in its opening year. We shall see.

In the meantime, let us look at the positive aspects of the reveal, mainly what it has improved over Xbox 360.

-Finally getting a blu-ray drive

-Reportedly quieter

- Strong possibility of reliability, as it is very well ventilated

- Sharing multiple accounts with one Gold subscription

- Massive LIVE server upgrade

- Better controller/D-pad fix? (initial impression I hear are very positive)

- Standard hard drive

- 3D enabled. 4k enabled for future.

- A far better media hub. No matter how gamer centric we are, the notion of a "app" system where by you can run multiple programs simultaneously is very convienent. The idea of using your voice to play your music on Xbox One while you make your breakfast, thus never once sitting down on your coach, is a very nice idea. And like last generation kinect, using your voice to navigate the marketplace has never been faster and more convienent. In the end, we all watch TV to a degree, and it would be nice to have a Bluray player/TV cable box/and game console all-in-one (no pun intended)

I look forward to the 8 new franchises, and 15 exclusives MS has in store in the first year. A healthy mix of retail, XBLA, and kinect based. I don't expect all to be revealed at E3, but I am prepared to be blown away. Microsoft at this point must know that it is walking a fine line and it is now or never. Until E3 my friends.

The one thing I want them to release is a list of supported video codecs. I still think they will have an epic E3 as far as games go.

Perhaps this rant is too positive for the time of its posting lol. Guess its more fun to criticize on the present then look optimistically to the future.

Not a fan of the Xbox in a traditional way, so this will be my only post in here: Of course no one posts here - as proven over and over again the users on this forum only comment on negative news, positive news for all platforms are ignored most of the time

I'm still here boys

I have switched sides, 360 will be my last Xbox console I ever own

I'm really still hopping mad at what MS have done.

I don't want integrated TV & Music. i'm not a huge fan of Kinnect.
I don't want to be restricted on who i can lend MY games to.

But guess what; XBOX ONE is here and you've got NO CHOICE !!!!

Unless you live outside the States. Then you wont get the TV at launch !!!!!
or probably sports feed info due to regional licensing.

Microsoft you have let me down.

Nothing announced has bothered me even in the slightest. Just the over-reactions from forums. Not that i should be surprised though.

Neither conference Sony/MSFT impressed me with games, I will wait for E3 to judge that. But as far as software and features I loved what MSFT showed.

hey sales, is there actually an official Microsoft/xbox thread like the ones for ps nation and nin domination?

Is it the one in your sig?

Ok I have to say....why can't they announce US centric stuff at a US based conference?

Are they supposed to just shut up because it won't be available elsewhere? Give me a damn break.I don't care what countries can and can't get these features, but MS is certainly allowed to discuss US features at a US conference.
