Maybe he is hoping that gamestop can sell used game with a new key. However their profits would be much smaller then so I do not know if that is what he is hoping.

I assure you he will say whatever he thinks will keep his company afloat even if it is an outright lie. No CEO is going to say that a major contributor to what they do just stopped their business model and thus they should realize the stock is going to crash and burn. Likewise they won't intentionally pick a fight or alientate Microsoft.

What he does is placate everyone. Tell them everything will be fine and then start pushing whatever games and consoles help promote his business model while not intentionally slamming the other company.

"We still have a viable business. Please don't sell off your shares in our company."

Why don't they just take a percent from game-stop used sales instead of nickel and diming customers who are unfamiliar with the issue of used games. That way developers stop bitching and moaning that they don't get to triple dip on a game that's been sold and consumers can just take the game home and play none the wiser. Or open up their own chain of stores to compete and if that doesn't work they can always shut the fuck about it if they are not going to actively try to do anything but rip people off.

Of course you can play used games on the Xbox One you just have to pay a fee which happens to be a full retail price, simple right?
