the best multiplayer games are those that are not split screen, such as Powerstone2 and SSBM, cause dividing a screen into smaller quadrants is stupid especially with smaller tv's.

I my self use to think that I needed to have split screen but in all honesty I much prefer online/lan multiplayer, I just wasn't my own screen, but then again I am a PC gamer so I'm just use to looking at my own screen all the time when playing lan games.

to each their own I guess.

Do you not have friends who don't have a PS3 and/pr selected game they would like to play?

Cause for me, that tends to be a problem. For example my girlfriend lives with me... so i'm not going to buy a second Wii and copy of said game just so we can play co-op in the same house. I'm definitly not buying a second PS3 either... or one Xbox AND pay for online cause my roommate only has one 360.

To someone who has a lot of friends, lack of splitscreen and online split screen is a serious gip.

I think what Troll_Monster meant was that games that are designed so that you can play mutiplayer on one system without the need to split the screen. Sports games are an obvious example.

I also want to throw my support behind MK64, some of my best gaming memories are 4 player MK64 races. So much of the fun was the post race trash talk, and lets not forget the fun of knocking the controller out of your friends hand for that little extra advantage.

Which is great... but doesn't work in COD4 or MoH H2.  Unless they add in a dual wielding mode.

I'm all for online play and everything, but I definitely miss the days of splitscreen gaming. Mario Kart, GoldenEye were loads of fun.....is it really that hard to support both online and local splitscreen multiplayer? It's like the developers don't want us to hang out with our friends.

Speaking of which: I want a new TM game for the PS3... WITH splitscren iyp

That would rule. Why they gave up after Black I don't know. A port of Head on from PSP to PS2 just ain't good enough.

Hmm, pie.

Stupid by devolopers I'm guessing I won't buy Bournout. Online also sucks on consoles I hope they will be more focused on splitscreen in the future.

Think twice before helping a friend in need.

Resistance 2 will have splitscreen.

Anyways download some PSN games for having friends over. High Velocity Bowing = great party game.

But PS3 is a HD console so more likely owners will have a HDTV where split screen would work the best. So now more than ever split screen makes more sense since a two way split screen is almost like getting a SD screen for each player.

I agree Motor Storm lack of split screen was a huge disappointment. Let's hope Sony wises up and make MS2 split screen

That's just stupid. How can a sport game not have a non-online multiplayer option? wow, that is just ... wow. I guess that chart where it asks if you have no friends to buy a PS3, online only friends buy a 360, and real friends buy a Wii. lol. Just kidding, no attacking me.
