  •     In case you missed our correction the other day, the Starters’ final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark, and Water/Fighting.


That's pretty crazy too, it breaks the fighting/fire starter thing that's been happening for a while and it breaks the rock/paper/scissors formula.

I don't see any problem here. The final form will be this so until you last battle with your rival, the game will be the same

Fire/Psychic, Grass/Dark, Water/Fighting
Fire > Grass > Water > Fire
Psychic < Dark < Fighting < Psychic


Diamond and Pearl tried to do this as well

Water/Steel, Fire/Fighting, and Grass/Ground 

Fighting > Steel

Ground > Fire

and Grass Ground is 4x weak against ice, and Empoleon is faster than Toterra.
