If you mean hardcore into PvP matches then no. I have however gotten a decent amount of experience from invasions and can hold my own against a mediocre player. Lately I have been taking my level 20 sorcerer into undead burg and allowing invaders there (I left the demon boss alive for this.) That has been giving me some good practive before I decide to dive head first into hardcore PvP. I enjoy some of the messages I get when I help someone in co-op in that area and do almost 1500 damage with my rapier on a parry and reposte. I get a lot of messages saying I'm a glitcher and have even had people send me home. I try to tell them that I just basically went through the game as a low level character. Some just don't believe me I guess.

Instead of making the harder difficulty unlockable, why not make the easier one unlockable?
That sounds much better. Keep dying, offer help, best by advice, eventually unlock easier difficulty.
Instead of blood stains the game could add victory stains after you keep dying. Touch them and see how someone else overcame a particular fight. Usually seeing it can be done is enough to be able to do it yourself.

I agree ng+ should be more difficult, maybe different enemy placements, different traps. ng+ was laughably easy after the first play through.

However the first play through needs better explanation of the game mechanics. Plus I'm for an optional retry system. After you die have a choice to go back to the bonfire or reset to the last safe spot you were before an enemy spotted you. Same for those damn swinging blades in Sen's fortress I just couldn't reliably judge my distance from. And allow retrying a boss fight with the same people.

There are plenty of ways to make the game easier in-game.  Interesting ideas about blood stains.

Ng+ is very easy the in the first half but can get real hard.  Four kings in ng+ was probably the hardest fight I've had (except o&s for the first time), only using the npc as a partner.

The retry option would feel really out of place.  Usually it's not too hard to summon the same people before a boss fight.

Dark souls wasn't hard to begin with so why not.

Do it like devil may cry. Game completions unlock challenge difficulties, like instant death if hit etc.

Or make it like diablo. you die, you lose your character.

(Ouch.)

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Check out some pvp vids with commentary.  Jblackmel(YouTube),  myrtyrsbrigade is a great source for info on tactics and builds.

Is there much pvp on Xbox?  I'm on ps3 usually it's pretty good.

also have u tried forest invading?  Very intense fighting 1 v 2,  luv it

Yes, I want a permadeath mode, that would b awesome.  That would b a worthy achievement, beating the game without dying once.

They should make it so hard that only 1% of the people who buy the games can beat it. Infinite Re play value.

I doubt the % who finish dks is much different than other games.  I can't remember where but I read that only like 25% of people finished skyrim, me included.

Edit: it's probably a lot less.  Only 10% of players finished Red Dead Redemptionhttp://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/gaming.gadgets/08/17/finishing.videogames.snow/index.html

Great point. Even a semi casual gamer like me finished Red Dead. That's why Dark Souls 2 should be hard enough to warrant under 1% completion. Instead of prepare to die. It should be you are dead.

Also from the 21 page long discussion here. (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=160051&page=1#) It seems Souls enthusiast want that.

i'm not sure how reliable the comparision is but based on trophies i think the dark souls completion rate is actually fairly high.

Dark Souls completion rate is at least 41.22 % based on the link to fire trophy.

for reference and comparision..

Uncharted 3 easy mode is 63%.

God of War:A is 57.07%

infamous 2 is at least 59.2%

..or, just to keep it consistent with the universe, add bloodstains for NPCs.   ..on easy mode.  :P
