Maybe it backfired and it was a subliminal message to the employees to aim for "third place" in the next gen.

If so then that plan was a failure as well.

That is what I thought when I read it. It doesn't seem like something that should be associated with playing video games to me. Greatness is more like this.

Achievements in peoples lives, especially outstanding ones, including sports and obviously more important things like I googled above say GREATNESS to me. Not a gaming console.
