I think provided it is within the rules it shouldn't be locked if it did get "personal" to an extent. There are a number of users who have posted some over the top and frankly ridiculous opinions based on rumours over the last few months that shouldn't now be immune from having to back pedal and eat crow. If their original posts were not moderated then they should be allowed to be held accountable for posting their opinion if it now turns out to be silly. I don't get why people shouldn't have accountability for their posts, it's frankly wrong to be able to state your opinion and never have to justify it if you were wrong.
