Forums - Gaming - X360, PS3, Wii Breakdown of how well each genre sells on each platform (Ton of Data)

So crackdown is somehow a tps but saints row isn't and what does metal gear solid count as cause it could be counted as a tps.

actually just keep sandbox in action advenure

The JRPG numbers are sad. For every single console, not only 360.

It was hard to classify certain games since some games has more than one element of gameplay so i tried to take the main focus of the game.  I have not played crackdown so i can't say anything about it.  It was classified as a shooter hence a TPS.  Metal Gear is an Action/Adventure seeing as it's main focus is stealth and adventure.  Saints row's main focus is a sandbox which goes under Action/Adventure.

I... I don't quite understand the meaning of this thread... It's interesting data and all, but what's the point?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

you count uncharted as a tps yet it is more of an adveture/platformer then it is a tps. Games have more than one genre so you can't pick and choose to your liking which one to put them in.

Just interesting data for each console.  It shows what is popular on each console and what consumers each has. From looking at each graph I can tell certaing things about each console.

For example  Nintendo relies heavily on it's First Party seeing as over 60% is first party where as sony and MSFT relies heavily on third party.  80% is third party.

FPS and WRPG's are insanely popular on X360 where as JRPG's tend to be Sony which shows it's imprtance in Japan.  Also it shows it's popularite in europe with sports and Fifa.

Then you have Wii that has over 100m in MIsc and not one game is less than 10m shows the casual's presence of the console.

The list goes on and on.  There is no point other than interesting data.

I can understand why'd it would be difficult to categorize eveything. Why not go simplified?

Action
Action/Adventure
Platformer( 2D &3D)
JRPG
WRPG
SRPG
Racing
Figthers
Sports
Shooter( first and 3rd)

I put uncharted as TPS since it's multiplayer is about shooting each other.
