The peak towards end of 2009 and the console's subsequent recovery from declining sales is what the OP deliberately fails to signify with the topic but then the issue of not surpassing 360 this far is being mixed here. Isn't the OP trying to confuse the people here?

So the comeback has been made. Let's be clear on that and leave the sales surpassing thing as a separate subject.

I think you've missed the whole point of the OP.

OP is not being a fanboy trying to paint a negative picture of the PS3, it sounds like that is your interpretation. No need to be so defensive here, he's simply saying there wasn't a comeback, because it was already doing well - not that it's still doing badly lol.

On another note.

OP brilliant update much respect, there's really not much anyone can say and it would be nice if the people who disagreed with you came forward and posted their congratulations in your conduct and clarity in showing that no comeback was made and that they were wrong and pay some respect to your research.

That graph is very telling. Like I said in the other thread, you align the launches and you see all this crap about a horrid PS3 start and an epic comeback to overtake the 360 are fairy tales. It was on pace to do this from the day it launched.

Personally I think Kinect is trash, but to think such trash delayed the decline of the Xbox 360 sales by 3 years, and also likely stopped the PS3 overtaking the Xbox 360 by the end of this generation.

Now that's a "comeback"...

...Now let's have a look what PS Move did for PS3 sales, actually, let's not ;)

The PS3 has consistently sold at a faster rate than the X360 over the last 6 and a half years. 4.2 million more PS3s have been sold than X360s in the last 6 and a half years. One average the PS3 has sold 700,000 units more per year than the X360.

I'm sure you could knock up some sales trajectory for a before and after Kinect release Vs a sales trajectory of the crossover of where the Xbox 360 would have been now Vs where the PS3 would have been now, and find the real "comeback", add in a bit of "aligned launch" sauce and I think the results could be very interesting to say the least.

Serve them crow baby! :p

haha, maybe I will do this. I've not used Excel or similar for years if nobody has done this in next week or so I'll give it a shot if I don't forget. I don't have the elequance of yourself though.
