Forums - Sony - PS4 will have unsurpassed physics realism, AMD guarantees

I guess... just not at launch.

5 years from now however it will indeed be doing things unimaginable.

I'm touching myself right now at thoughts of unsurpassed physics...

AMD confirms xbox8 isn't as powerful as ps4! :P

While it's likely.  It's worth noting that since the next Xbox isn't announced.  AMD has to pretend it doesn't exist.  (Despite the fact we ALL know it does.)  It could be twice as powerful and cost $1500 and it still wouldn't change AMD's current PR.

Hence i'd take anything AMD says currently in that regard with a grain of salt until the next Xbox info officially released.

i hope so, why shouldn't it have the best physics at release? it's not as if pc games have super crazy physics nowadays.

the real question for me is if a console like the ps4 can compete longer or not so long with pc as this gen consokes could (in areas dependent of power)

I don't know.  I'd be surprised if the PS4 could surpass Cryengines physics anytime soon. (if ever)  Hey though, hype train is in full effect... seems like this kind of stuff works every console release.  If it does though... great.

i was really just joking.  i'm sure they are close enough to not really matter.

I'll believe this claim when the games back it up.

So 1.8 TFLOP > 8 TFLOp(HD 7990)?

No it will never happen...

What the consoles did better than PC is to use the 1.8 TFLOPS better than 2.5 TFLOPS for example... is is like the console uses 90% of 1.8 FLOPS and a PC uses 50% of 2.5 TFLOPS... there are a lot of overhead in PC not present in consoles.

In raw power the GPU on PC will be always more powerful but the result will just be noticiable in way more powerful GPU like GTX 680, HD 7970, HD 7790, etc...

Anyway the HD 7790 is a dual-gpu that uses Crossfire to work... the Crossfire is even less eficient than SLI... so the unused raw power in this GPU is even bigger than HD 7970 (single-gpu).
