Ubisoft devs confirm next-gen Xbox, Watch Dogs & Assassin's Creed 4 coming to 'X720'

Ubi's top open-world titles heading to next Xbox, employees confirm.

Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag are both being developed for Microsoft's unannounced next-gen Xbox, a pair of Ubisoft employees appear to have confirmed.

The games are listed on the LinkedIn profiles of Ubisoft gameplay programmer Paolo Maninetti and marketing artist Phil Brolles, who state between them that both games are headed to "X720".

Brolles' profile states that Watch Dogs is "work in progress for next generation consoles", specifically referencing "PS4/X720", while Maninetti says that AC4 is heading to "PC, PS3, X360, PS4, X720, [and] WiiU".

The news that Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed 4 are heading to Microsoft's next-gen Xbox isn't exactly a surprise - Ubisoft has previously announced that the two games are headed to "next-generation platforms", including PlayStation 4.

But given Microsoft's secrecy over its next-generation console, it's surprising to see two Ubisoft employees listing the console on their online CVs.

The news follows a similar blunder from Microsoft employee Eusebius Lai earlier this week, who posted on his LinkedIn that he was working on "cool new features" for the "next Xbox".

Depending on who you believe, Microsoft is expected to announce its next-gen Xbox at the end of this month or next.

Ubisoft gave VideoGamer.com a "no comment" when contacted this afternoon.

They probably didn't want to disclose the real name. No way it'll be called 720.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

i dont see how that is any confirmation. they need to call the next box something too. if the name hasn't been released they will use a place holder like every one else. I personally dont think it will be called xbox 720

Yeah, that would be just plain stupid. I'd be able to troll it with XBox 720p, and i'd do it everytime i can.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

You will probably not be the only one.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

That can't be true, it makes absolutely no sense to call it the Xbox 720.

Signature goes here!

Xbox 720

The second revolution.

Best name would be NextBox. or just be simply XBOX. But 720 means a double spin, which is not makes sense, and 720p is a thing of the past. I don't think they should use numbers anymore. Sony does that, and they're ahead, which is bad marketing for MS. XBOX 3 vs PS 4. Find a name for it like Nintendo, or just be XBOX. It's going to be your console for 6-7 years, why name it? Just be XBOX.

I would agree. It really just wouldn't be a meaningful name at all.

"LIVE" would be a good name (always-on, kinect-focused, all about dealing with living people, etc), though it might confuse consumers a little.
