No, you don't need a dozen different killer apps at launch. Killzone, Knack and Driveclub will all be enough, even if non of then end up being killer apps. The hardware will partially sell itself. Look it the Wii U's first 6 weeks, it sold really. Sony just need to make sure they have titles for Q1, hopefully Infamous fills that space, alongside some 3rd party titles. Maybe WItcher 3....

I would have liked it on the PS4... but unless they could have kept it quiet, telling people know its only available for PS4 would upset a lot of people.

There was a discussion yesterday about would a $99 Xbox sell. I wanted to post about that, but it disappeared, but what Sony is doing is prolonging the life of the PS3... stay with me for a minute :)

The Xbox has had very few exclusive releases over the last couple of years... and I think the way they have dropped the ball on the xbox will ultimately mean that when they drop the price, it will be a bit like the Wii... it will sell big time to start with, but drop off within a year. Sony have decided to continue supporting the device with lots of new games, in theory people will be more inclined/interested in buying a PS3 over the next two years.

So i can see why they are doing it.. Not sure if it will work out that way.

The taktik here is very simple. Make The Last of Us Fanbase as big as possible on the PS3 and get the attention of this Fan base for PS4 once The Last of Us 2 release.

God of War and that Heavy Rain sequel would have sufficed for PS3. Poll shows that PS3 gamers just want it now and aren't willing to wait another 6 months, even if it means next gen graphics.

It would be a far bigger strategic move to bring it to PS4, a worthy launch title/original IP to kick off the next gen.
