That would be a good price without a subscription. PS3 should be able to comfortably receive a $70 dollar price cut to $199 aswell. They could probably even go down to $169.99 but they would probably prefer the former for more profit

True, but Wii was already faded in the consumers eye when this happened. 360 still has plenty life, and 3rd party support left.

Just to be clear, PS3 skus jnow are 280 and 350 right?
If a 99$ xbox 360 can be released that basically means that they would still make a profit from it. It would be illogical for a HW company to release a new version of their console at this point for a loss. Most likely the 200$ and 250$ 360s make a ton of money.

Currently they're selling a $199 4GB Xbox 360 at a profit. A cheaper redesigned Xbox at $99 doesn't sound too surprising. Most people will still be looking for the ones with the large hard drives though.

$269.99 and $299.99 for the 160GB and 500GB respectively.
The Super Slim actually had Sony INCREASE the price from $250 so the profit margins are much higher right now. There's rumors of another redesign though which will bring costs down even further. Sony will probably stealth launch this one and then do like a $100 price cut when they feel like it.

Thx for the update. Think a clean 199 and 249 is more reasonable, but hey thats all up in the air at this point.
I still don't want it, i don't really care about it's exclusives (alot of the games I want are on PS3 anyway) and I refuse to pay for Live, when such a service is free else where. Games for Windows live is free (i have to use it for GTA IV), so why can't Xbox Live be free?

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

The 99$ Wii didn't sell because there hasn't been any support for the Wii. Not due to it's lack of certain options with the HW.
Will that $99 price be world wide or just in the US? Cause if its just for the US then I think that market is getting pretty saturated especially with Xbox's, but if its world wide then the 360 could sell a lot of units especially in areas where the PS3 and Wii have dominated.
