Forums - Gaming Discussion - Super mario strikers online footage

Yea so the discussion lately about the Wii's online status is that we need friend codes in order to be able to play against other people. This is actually totally wrong, if you check out the video you can see you play ranked matches against random people

Debunk this.

I know but if you want to play against your friends you need friend codes, and it is specific for the game. Which I don't like.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

For first party games it appears it will be. 3rd party online games are restricted to that it appears however. Elebits uses a much easier and MUCH better online system mode for its game. It just uses your system Wii code. And you only have 1 of those so managing it is as simple as pie. Thank the lords they didn't decide to force their system on the other devs. I cant wait for TW08.

I enjoy the heck out of Mario Strikers on the 'cube. I have looked at all the footage and screenshots of the Wii version. Am I the only one that thinks that the "graphical improvements" aren't very improved? I know, I know, gameplay over graphics and I agree, but I would have liked to see quite a bit of improvement over the cube title. p.s. on topic, online looks interesting to say the least but I'm hoping hacks don't come into play for all online wii games like they have on some of the DS ones. Afer a couple of malicious users destroyed my daughters Animal Crossing community, and some of the "cheats" that exist on Metroid and Mario Kart, we've not been too keen on using online.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

true true, but why would the DS online functionality be exactly the same as the Wii? we could get software updates and such

One thing to consider is that a lot of the 'Mario Sports' titles never really pushed the cube all that hard mainly because they have such limited geometry and not that much going on at a particular time; thus these games were able to have as much polygonal detail (and texture detail) as they saw any benefit from so the extra power of the Wii is not really meaningful.

ty for it ioi =)
