Nope if i stay here il probably get myself banned. I'm done here.

Why you can't stay without calling names or something? C'mon, let's narrow it down and look at as many areas we can.

Chip Clock Mem bandwidth TFlops CU Texture Units GDDR5 bit TDP
HD7850 860Mhz 153.6GB/s 1.76 16 64 256 130
HD7970M 850MHz 153.6GB/s 2.176 20 80 256 75
PS4 GPU 800MHz 153.6GB/s 1.84 18 18 256

Logically, which makes more sense?

Adding beef to 7850 and pushing out a 150W APU

or

removing beef to 7970M and pushing out a 100W APU

There is no technical reason why its not the 7970M (like you try to claim in other thread), but there is a logical reason to conclude it is the 7970M.

So you're point is, while it is so very nearly a desktop cpu, it's low power, which makes it a mobile that outperforms the desktop?

Well, not really as it also has less texture units and other items that make it techically worse than the 7850.

hat info for comparison and add with that the APU known in PS4.

Type/Model CPU GPU TPD
Notebook APU A10-5750M 2.5-3.5GHz - 4cores - Bobcat
533-720MHz HD8650G 35W
Notebook APU A8-4500M 1.9-2.8GHz - 4cores - Bobcat
496-685MHz HD7640G 35W
Notebook APU A8-3520M 1.6-2.5GHz - 4cores - Bobcat 444MHz HD6620G 35W
Desktop APU A10-5800K 3.8-4.2GHz - 4cores -  Piledriver
800MHz HD7660D 100W
Desktop APU A10-5700K 3.4-4.0GHz - 4cores -  Piledriver 760MHz HD7660D 65W
Desktop APU A8-5600K 3.6-3.9GHz - 4cores -  Piledriver 760MHz HD7560D 100W
Desktop APU A8-5500K 3.2-3.7GHz - 4cores -  Piledriver 760MHz HD7560D 65W
PS4 APU 1.6GHz - 8cores - Jaguar

800MHz HD7XXXM

???

We know that "Jaguar" is the successor of "Bobcat". So PS4 is clearly using a downclocked notebook/mobile CPU. So there is no need to go into that further.

This is wrong. Axx-5xxxM series is based on Piledriver cores, Axx-4xxxM series was based on Pildriver cores, Axx-3xxxM was based on old K10 architecture.

Bobcat CPU's are the ones that start with either C or E, and were meant for netbook/ low power environments. Jaguar is a significant improvement of that architecture.

Well, not really as it also has less texture units and other items that make it techically worse than the 7850.

from your own links

7850: 64 Texture Units

7970M: 80 Texture Units

I meant PS4 GPU is worse than 7850, sorry. It has 18 TU

well, the 7970M is better than the 7850 (just look up any benchmarks), so I'm not sure what your point is

it's generating less heat, consumes less energy and has better performance, so it would be really good if the liverpool gpu was based on the 7970M

Which is why I find it kinda odd I always get so much heat when I say PS4s GPU is based off the M variant.

Granted, its other tweaks put it lower than both, but still has a better base.

Not to mention this is a modified APU we're talking about, not that specific video-card. Sony has shown us the shading and lighting. I think it'll be fine.

*shrugs*. sorry man, wish I could help you make it look bad, but the existence of this thread is to call the chip a mobile, in an attempt to denigrate it, but it actually performs better than the desktop others have compared it to (the chip you are arguing it isn't). Not to mention the 7970 has more texture units....as lafiel pointed out.

Actually the mobile GPU's are the same as desktop GPU's. The difference in TDP comes from way it's calculated. For desktop GPU's the TDP represents the whole video card, with mobile GPU's the TDP represents in most cases just the GPU, and in rare cases MXM modules as well.

Because you are perceived as denigrating it, by saying "it's JUST A MOBILE CPU, NOT EVEN A DESKTOP". That is why you get heat, because it sounds like typical spin using buzz words. Even worse, you call it mobile, which to the average person, makes them think cell-phone.

If that wasn't your intention, well then, just consider this an objective criticism: "You suck at labeling things".
