Forums - Gaming Discussion - Software Will Not Boost Wii U Hardware Sales

How many people buy Nintendo systems to play those games though? Compare software sales on Nintendo's consoles, do 3rd party or 1st party sell better?

Nobody is now!  That is the point!  No one is going to buy this because it lacks those games.  It doesn't have the gimic the Wii had, and it has lost first party support even faster than the Wii did.

Game over.  15-30 million sold.

Oh, and you're wrong. SW always increases HW. This has been proven over and over again. I don't know why you are trying to dis-prove this utter fact. (Plus, you're putting a lot of faith into some of those exclusives. I wouldn't do that.)

when did Wii software ever bring the console back to launch level sales?

Nintendo DS: It blew away launch sales about, oh, 10-months after a lukewarm launch, and pretty much demolished them for years after that.

Nintendo 3DS: Good-ish launch, collapsed, and then rocketed upwards during its first holiday.

Next invalid arugment...

Sales in the UK spiked 125% last week for U.

Why?

Games came out that peole wanted to play. (The price cut had virtualy no effect, which preceded it by a few weeks.)

You clearly have no idea what it is you're talking about and are more interested in riling people up--if the U gets momentum, it'll be fine, just like the 3DS and DS.

(Note: you get momentum by having sufficient software stacked back-to-back-toback, e.g. 3DS and Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3DLand (plus Monster Hunter if you count Japan--this is *exactly* why the VIta is failing. It cannot get enough momentum to  keep sustained interest up.)

So do you think that the Wii U is gonna do the same thing?

Since I  do not have a crystal ball, I cannot say, but the OP is clearly clueless and wrong., re: 'never approaching launch sales again' is obviously false, and it's happened innumerable times in the past.

The rest of my post made my argument: If the U gets momentum--defined as sufficient, big, games in a narrow window (say, 3-months)--it will do fine; if not, it will flounder like the Vita.

now we can end this thread?

I'm going to assume this is an elaborate parody thread, lest i suffer a fit of apoplepsy that ends my life prematurely.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

This thread instantly became pretty funny. All it took was Lego and Monster Hunter -- two games everyone insisted couldn't push hardware in America -- to triple Wii U sales from the week before, giving it almost a 20k boost. And it's probably STILL undertracked, just like last month, and just like everything else looks to be this month.

Man, imagine when BIG games come. Pikmin 3 should do well.

How has it "lost" first party support?

Ok chaps, why don't we just call it a day, archive it and revisit it at the end of the year. This chap may be right or wrong. There can be no other possibility.

I have some remorse, so I am off to play MH3U on my doomed console. Anyone care to join in?
