To make a succinct point:

The Wii U will not have the highest lifetime sales at the end of the 8th generation because Nintendo has not strategically planned out it's first party release schedule. In addition, third party support and major exclusives will not be heading to the Wii U.

Even if you examine the indie game scene, you would see a huge difference between the selection on Nintendo Network vs Xbox Live and PSN.

So let's break this down. First party support WILL NOT BOOST the Wii U into first place over the long run.

this week we had 3 3th parties games and the WiiU sold 2x more. So please, give up.

some people never learn lol, Nintendo will end up 3rd imo in the 8th gen but it'll do well as the others! Wii U hasn't even taking off yet!

hummm. I think it will be a draw with Sony. lol

Without the casuals backing Nintendo this time and without 3rd party support, the Wii U might become another Gamecube.

GCN= best home console

People tell me the Nintendo games on it sucked and that's why it sold so little

Truth, the big Nintendo franchise's offerings on GC are notably inferior to their N64/Wii offerings. I don't get it, for some reason the GameCube is praised nowadays while it was left in the dust when it actually was in stores. I wish people cared as much ten years ago...

This is the worst thread title I have ever seen.

when did Wii software ever bring the console back to launch level sales?

Are you seriously going to say that?

So let me get this straight, you're looking at the lineup of 4 different consoles, and the best you can mention starts with Cyberpunk 2077.

DOOOOOMED!

Oh, so the real reason for this thread finally comes out.

Hm, I can agree with this. As long as Nintendo keeps up how they are treating the Wii U right now, it won't become the Generation Leader.

In my opinion, it wouldn't lead the generation even if Nintendo released a lot of awesome Nintendo games soon (and with more following every year). The system just doesn't have that Wii factor.

Maybe it doesn't. But do we know if the PS4 will have that PS2 Factor? Or if the XB720 will have that, well... Good Factor? No, not really. It's way to early to call out who is going to be the Generation's Leader. (As you know, for sure!)

The lack of these big-name 3rd party titles is what killed the Wii.(Of course Nintendo had some part in this as well)

Even though Wii U is getting some big games such as AC and Watch Dogs, its still missing some major franchises. The ones it did get didn't sell very well at launch so I think the future of 3rd party support for Wii U won't be much different than that of the Wii.

Wii was the best selling console till 2010 without any of these big-name 3rd party titles. What killed it was the fact that after 2010, Nintendo stopped supporting it.

The lack of the biggest, most popular titles out there caught up with the Wii. People weren't going to continue purchasing a console that lacks a ton of good games. People keep saying Nintendo has lost the casual audience but looking at sales of Wii games last year, what sold the most last year? Just Dance 4. I say Nintendo lost and has been losing that "core" gamer for years.

The biggest, and most popular games lol? Do me a favor go look up the best selling games, and its all Nintendo and Call of Duty games. Your ill informed, and don't what your talking about.

Lego city is a prime example.....I thought everyone said that game was going to save the WiiU....less than 80k first week! what a flop...

No one said it would save the Wii U. They said it would help the Wii U. (Or at least I hope no one said that...)

And it did help the Wii U.
