Forums - Gaming - Publishers twice as keen on PS4 and Durango than Wii U

Ah yes, run, run, run to your doom.

Again.

The only question is: which pub and/or devs go bankrupt first when they all rush to the same, small, pond with their tens of millions of dollars game budgets? It'll make the catastrophic collapse of devs this gen seem quaint in comparison.

The really shoudl filter out all the indi publishers into a separate group.

As atm it really makes no sense for more publishers to be interested in VITA than 3DS, unless they are all confirming we want Nintendo dead and out of the industry.

So that means WiiU will still get about half of all games released on the next MS & Sony systems? Plus Nintendo's 1st party games. Well, that seems like a very, very bright future for WiiU, then! I'm surprised 2% are actually still wanting to work on Wii games.

Again this poll is about a publisher's "interest" in making games on a platform, not "we are have games in the works".

But yeah that Vita nearly double the 3DS is kinda werid.

Here is something I found interesting--

"The survey finds that seven out of 10 publishers prefer a business model that financially involves the developer – meaning that a game’s development expense is either fully financed by the developer or is only partially funded by the publisher, with revenue-sharing as an ongoing business model." http://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/188883/Game_Connection_Reveals_Results_of_Inaugural_PublisherSurvey.php

That makes me wonder if we're going to see less studio buy-outs offered, with less publishers trying to be the next Activision or EA. I think it's likely we're going to see more "partnerships", like with Activision and Bungie. I think that's a good thing, though it's likely to continue the trend of studios closing after busts only to "reform" later with a new name. Venture investing might be the next big part of gaming.
