Forums - Gaming - How accurate is VGLeaks?

Lately many of the threads posted on here have had VGLeaks as their source. For some reason, I've always assumed everything coming from that source was pure invention which means I've mostly avoided those threads. I realize this isn't exactly fair to VGLeaks, since I've never given them a chance just because the name of the site doesn't inspire trust for me. So I'm asking you guys:

How accurate is VGLeaks? Was it right about the PS4 specs before Sony's Conference? Do you believe what they have to say about the Xbox 720? Do most of their leaks turn out to be true in the end? Are threads based on info from VGLeaks a waste of time or great way to see what's ahead in the wonderful world of gaming?

I suspect VGleaks just collates the most-likely rumours of other websites with some reasonable deductions. The first to say that PS4 would be AMD CPU+GPU was Semiaccurate in March 2012. They probably took that from there, for example.

They were 100% right about the PS4's specs (bar the memory increase) and the PS4 controller.

They were wrong about AC4 not coming to next-gen consoles.

So a good record in general but not 100% accurate.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

VGleaks was almost spot on with the PS4 specs except 4gb GDDR5 where wrong.

I think the Xbox720 documents are genuine and circulated months around the net. They came from an Australian hacker (the one who tried to sell devkits on ebay) his house was raided the pics of the devkits are real the rumors about the 720 very likely true.

Also all of this is old information and resurfaced from time to time in snippets all over the net for the last couple of months.

Vgleaks is credible as far as rumors go. With that I mean they don't lie all the Information comes from sources if those sources lie or not can not be said for sure. Info could be right outdated or wrong like all rumors but aslong as its from vgleaks it likely has some truth to it or was truth at some point. Meaning vgleaks rumors are worthy to talk about but its wrong to consider them a fact.

Edge is a much better source and like 90% of their stuff is the same as vgleaks. They even called the 8GB bump up.

They aren't a true leak site. They just collect rumors.

Average at best, it's a rumour relaying site, not much more.

Well, they've been pretty damn right so far.

They have been a primary source for my comparison thread and when PS4 was confirmed, the only part they were wrong on was the 8GB of ram vs 4GB and in that various devs said they were even unaware of that change. So it had to be relatively soon that Sony made that switch.

Which is why I think what I have for neXtBox in my thread is gonna be 99% perfect.

Also, for those saying they don't have original stuff.... they have been the first to detail integral details about the CPU and GPU for both MSony consoles.

I don't want to go through their whole history, but they have been first on quite a lot of info.
