Forums - PC - Are any of the Valve/Steam fans in here excited for Steam Box?

I mean, Valve/Steam fans are the ones that know Valve and that may relatively have the biggest trust in the company. I was curious as how they are viewing what Valve is doing with the Steambox at the moment.

It's cool, but I don't see myself buying one. I can build a Steambox. My PC is a Steambox. The only reason I don't build consoles is because I can't.

Depends how much it will cost and what it will be able to play off steam,i'd probably prefer to buy/build a decent PC myself as i can use it for a lot of other things and it will still play steam/games

No offence dude but "Valve/Steambox fans" tend to be PC users in general and most of them can build their own PCs that are better than this and for half the price.

Only people that could be excited by this are console gamers looking to dip their toe in to PC gaming, and even then there are much better options.

One of my PCs is already hooked into a TV, so no.

Why should I get offended? The ones who would have a problem with your take are the guys at Valva Co. Actually, my curiousity sparks from that same fact that I don't see this console bringing what interests PC fans forward.

Seems to me Steam fans are fans of the company because it is arguably the best service for their PC gaming. Honestly, when this Piston thingy was first announced I thought this would be the first console that would have something like an easy upgradable feature to it to take advantage of the PC gaming benefits  (along with allowibng the modding) while making it more user friendly to maybe expand their market. As far as I know, this console does not have that approach.

My point is that, if Valve/Steam fans are not excited about this, who would?

Not for $1000. If it's an affordable silent box that games are optimized for then yes. Otherwise I'll stick with my desktop. It's not that heavy to carry over to the tv.

Not really. I mean I'm excited for seeing what it is what Valve can do in the hardware space, but I won't be getting one.

The piston thing is not the Steambox btw.

Wait, I am confused then. So the Piston is not Steam Box? I got that completely wrong. lol
