I'm a PS3/360 owner.  I got the game for 360 (just assumed it would be better, there) but after the fact, I did some research and, apparently, the PS3 version is just a little better.

Off topic but, the same day, I got the PS3 version of Metal Gear Rising.  Turns out, Digital Foundry says the 360 version is just a hair better.  I just can't win, sometimes.

PS3 looks better and 360 performs better, but overall is PS3 apparently according to DF.

It's a good game but not great...I don't play PC very often anymore so I can't talk about that version. It's only fair to compare consoles to consoles. The PS3 version of Tomb Raider isn't even close to the God of War or Uncharted series visually, or gameplay wise as well. Everything that's in Tomb Raider has already been done far bettter in Uncharted 2/3, God of War 3 and Ascension.

The more I play, the more I love this game. Lara is amazing and you truly care about her, the gameplay grew on me and I started to like the combat, the story is really good and the game looks astonishing.

But screw the black b***h, I hate her.

You do realize that CGI is talking about the PC version in the OP though right? :P

Now this isnt the real issue, the issue is: When does the story actually pick up? Are we going after some treasure anytime soon? xD

SO far they've only mentioned the sun fire god of China or some shit XD but unlike say UC3 and UC2, Lara isn't going through a plan and telling me all about the myth and stuff. I've found notes and journals or something but I am too lazy to read them :[. Maybe I should?

Basically: When (IF EVER) does the "oh no we're on an island" start changing to "okay were on an island lets find the 'treasure'"?

I looted like one tomb, it didnt do much. Am I missing something here? Why should I loot tombs?


The story will pick up but not very well in my opinion. It's not a bad game but if you compare to games like God of War or Uncharted you won't be able to enjoy it as it simply doesn't achieve the greatness of those games. Although a few hours into the game the pacing picks up and the set peices are quite good but nothing we haven't seen before. 

Edit: Just like you I think Lara is too cute and I can't take the gameplay that seriously due to that reason.

Thanks for the responses guys!

To answer some questions: Yeah I don't feel like listening/reading the notes and I feel my bow and I are doing just fine killing people XD.

The narrative and the open-ness of the game is what makes it so different from UC thus far. I get that I shouldnt compare them but I just had to ask.

I know a lot enjoy it, but I personally enjoy a more linear approach where I really want to continue. No scratch that: Where i really CANNOT STOP playing, because of how into the overall plot I am.

I am going to have to take my time with TR and thats great. But I just don't have that "can't wait to run around in the forrest with Lara (/ Laura?).

I just prefer doing it all in one sitting if possible. Hell even God of War Ascension with its lack of story telling had me going 9 hours straight, two nights before an exam.

I must be super casual for liking linear games, don't hate me! xD

 

EDIT: This will in particular be bad during The Last Of Us. IF that game has the standard ND narrative => I am not going to get any sleep for over 12 hours. That scares me.

Help me!

Game breaking glitch. Just got the "rope ascender". Spent the last half hour pulling this load thats on a crane. The crane moves but the load stays floating in midair.

I know it's supposed to break a hole in the floor but it's not working. Fuck.
