Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 - After the hype

Amazing graphics, incredible setting. I love the industrial environments and wish KZ3 did more of it and hope KZ4 does. But as amazing as these 2 things were, ho-hum/by the books gameplay and terrible controls ruined it for me SP wise.

MP wise the game was glorious for a month or so until everyone figured out how to spawn camp and ruin the game.

Killzone 2 was a great game. The multiplayer was really fun. IF you did nothing but use the rocket launcher, and did nothing but rocket abuse. THAT WAS FUN.

Really made everyone mad. Killzone 2 multiplayer was a smaller community towards the end though, nothing but mexicans and foreigners because I'm guessing the americans stopped playing. But if you played in 2009, then I probably killed you over a dozen times with rockets and then said "Hah Hah" over the mic!

I really enjoyed Killzone 2 as well. The graphics are gorgeous and I liked the weighted feel of movement. Multiplayer was a lot of fun as well. The spawn grenades were a nice addition that at least gave the losing team a chance of getting out of a camp fest. The tactical spawn points in 3 were terrible though imo, as the winning team would obviously cap those as well.

Also, Visari was a great villian, and i'll never forget Rico for killing him. :/

So it was you, you damn bastard XD

It really ruins the hardcore intensity every time I played in Helgast academe.

Oh man the multiplayer in this game was fantastic.

Me and my team were playing the Unique mission mode. We were 3-3 with the enemy and the last mission was to plan the boom in the enemy base. The enemy spammed they're spawning base in the same room with the plant site. It was chaos in the last few minutes, grenades flying everywhere people dying left and right.

It was down to the last 30 seconds. I ran through all the madness and by some miracle I planted the bomb, but I had to protect it for another minute and a half. I was a killing machine and I felt like guarding the bomb with my life. Finally the game ended and we won.

KZ2 multiplayer matches could last for 30 min to an hour. And its thanks to my heroic bravery that my team won the match. After that I felt like I became a man.

On radec, if one team managed to hold the opposing side to their spawn points, it just became a firefight through a single doorway lol.

What exactly is it that made people enjoy Killzone 2 over 3? For me I enjoyed 3 over 2, main reason is because I played both in 2012 so 2 felt a tad dated while 3 was a year old. Unfortunately I never got into Killzone 2's multiplayer because by the time I started playing the game the community was pretty much dead except for the occasional full house on the weekends.

I don't know if there is something wrong with me, but graphically I was very disappointed after all the hype. There were some places where I would just stop controlling the character, stare at the screen and go, "what the fuck is this!?". Apart from the cutscenes (and of course the opening is tremendous!), it didn't look anything special to me.

The atmosphere was good though. Quite satisfying to kill the Helghast. But it was an slightly-above-average shooter experience for me.

I almost went back to KZ2 after KZ3 surprised me with it's overall excellence. Played KZ3 on normal and I thought it was alright, but a bit boring to be honest. The hard mode playthrough blew me away though, and I usually prefer the any given game on normal mode. Got stuck near the end of my hard playthrough on a ridiculously hard vehicle segment and bailed. On topic: I was kinda turned-off by the input lag in KZ2 and probably don't like it as much as most people because of it. I posted this comment using a ps3. It took six hours. Try it. :)
